Receptionists answer phones and deal with customers, in this case patients. I do calculations, schedule operations etc. It's different!

Yeah....that's who I want making a decision on the time of my op next week...

I'm not really making the decision. The consultant makes it and passes me the operation requests. I put them on the system and create a waiting list. Urgent one's obviously go in the next available slot and others go to the bottom of the list. So yeah, I'm doing it but I'm not making the decision.

I work in an office.

Never even finished school before I left Galway for Glasgow.

I have a sister living in Liverpool, so I'd appreciate if people would be more respectful of the insults they dish out. In an economic downturn, especially under a Tory government cities like Liverpool and Glasgow tend to be the worst hit. I have family and friends who are unemployed and I was unemployed for a while myself, I think it is something we need to treat with more respect rather than as a petty insult.

Well yes, I'm not going to make medical decisions with no qualifications. Instead I make administration decisions and help the doctor out with scheduling operations.
