I think I thought that because that's who I want him to be aiming at. As good as Nev is, as a pundit, I get so annoyed at him trying so hard to not sound biased. And also, he's meant to be Red Nev, the most biased ever almost like good, old Paddy Crerand.

I think Gary Neville is just saying it as he sees it. It's ridiculous to suggest that he tries hard not to be 'biased'.

United fans seem to think that Gary Neville is a great pundit but when he decides to use that great punditry and dare criticise United players then all of a sudden he's 'trying hard to not sound biased'!

Me too, I was only joking with the last comment. He's definitely the best pundit when it's about anyone except United but IMO tries too hard to not look bias.

I seen someone comment on this site the other day saying he criticized DDG because he wanted to please the ABU public. I think that also has something to do with it

It's not only United fans saying it though Rob. I've seen and heard loads of people say that both on this site and in person

I like GN but he does sometimes tend to go over the top, he might think that he has too I dont know.

I agree, ho does over-critiscise United players but (as someone on here said the other day) that might be because he played for United so if he sees someone not playing to the standards he set himself when playing then he will be critical

I think G Nev trys his best to be unbiased but it must be hard, he loves United. When he gave Danny MOTM against Liverpool I felt that he did it slightly to help his confidence, not that he was bad, he had a good game, just maybe no MOTM.

But in general G Nev is a brilliant pundit who will most of the time tell it as he sees it.

I watch a lot of MNF when Gary Neville does most of his analysis and find it spot on. What people (who i'm guessing didn't see this week) don't realise is that he spent ages going over how good Carrick was in that Spurs match then explained in great detail about the Spurs goal.

Yes, De Gea was criticised but he also criticised other players too.

Neville is in no way trying to pander to the ABU public. That is one of the most paranoid thing i've seen United fans say (not you specifically 20legend - a few other people have said it)

I don't think he over criticises United players, he reached impeccable standards as a player pretty much straight away and he thinks the current crop should be doing the same. Listening to him talk about the mentality needed to succeed at the club and how harsh and unforgiving an environment it can be reminds me of other ex-players who have done well at the club, Roy Keane and Gary Pallister have said similar things to Nev over the past few months.

What they're saying sounds harsh because the at the top end of elite football, it is harsh

I agree that he can try too hard not to look biased, but not in United games. There have been a few times when he has been the co-commentator on City games this year and I felt like he held back from being as critical as he should have been. I also think the England job has changed his punditry slightly as well.

I fully understand why though, it is a very difficult balance for him to get right as everyone will be looking for it. It's one of the reasons why I think people rate him so highly - that he hasn't taken a natural bias into his punditry. Have to say though, I think that has led to people overrating what he is actually saying sometimes.

Nev does try too hard not to look biased. But I think it was at 'experts' in general.
