Euro 96 for me,
not so much for the football even though that was good,, but the atmosphere everywhere was brilliant, don't think we will get that feeling again in this country.
also not old enough to have experienced 66
to be fair euro 2012 was the best of the last few years, but id have to say 2002 world cup was the best in my memory
USA 94 will always have a special place in my heart as it was on as I was leaving primary school for big school.
Plus I will always remember Ray Houghton scoring against Italy
2012 was good compared to the last few, before 2012 though, France 98 was grea
Spain 1982.... first world cup i remember... the Brazil team were pure fantasy, the semi between France and West Germany... Northern Ireland in the 1/4 finals.
Mexico 86 is a close 2nd... Negretes goal for Mexico, Michael Laudrups genius in the early rounds followed by Maradonas in the latter rounds.
Italia 90 is looked back at fondly but the football itself was rubbish... even England never really played well until the semi against the germans... Most of the football was defensive and boring... it led to change in the back pass rule, and various tinkering with the offside rule.
90 and 96 have great sentimental value, 2000 was very entertaining, so was 2006.

A very close friend to my family is Billy Bingham. I remember him coming round to my grandparents house while still Norn Iron manager and just talking football with me for hours.
Such a great guy.
Euro 96 was amazing...
2006 WC because I was there

78 in Argentina was good despite us not being in it
Euro 96 was brilliant too. The atmoshere everywhere was just brilliant
The Brazil team of 2002 had me going. And I was the perfect age for sporting wonderment
I really liked the '94 USA World Cup. Ireland beating Italy was really special and although I wanted the Brazilians to win I was a massive fan of Baggio and his role in helping Italy to the final is very underestimated...probably because he missed the final penalty but apart from that he was absolutely brilliant in the tournament. Then apart from that you had players like Hagi, Baresi, Stoichkov and Romario all taking part.
I don't think there's been an interesting WC since France '98, both in terms of quality and entertainment. The Euros tend to be brilliant, Euro 2004 was probably my favourite International, we (England) had a good team and there were some brilliant players involved for other countries as well, Figo, a baby Ronaldo, Xavi, Raul, ZZ, Desially, Del Piero, RVN, Seedorf etc.
Euro '96 being a great tournament is a bit of a myth, it was exciting from an England perspective but a lot of grounds where barely half full and an ageing and average Germany won the competition, Holland were poor, so were Spain, as they always seemed to be up until 2006, as were Portugal, France and Italy, all very pedestrian and workman like.
Euro '96, not all that!
Euro 2000 was a true footballing spectacle. France (with Zidane seemingly at the height of his powers), Italy, Portugal and Holland were all outstanding sides and there were some classic games not even involving those sides.
