Interesting article. Have alluded to this 'inflation' over the past few days and it is clear that some players are being pushed into a price bracket that they may well have not been in at the start of the summer.
However, I am sure that there are those who would like to use this as a convenient excuse, but many clubs have strengthened more effectively than we have. That said, I feel our midfield could certainly hold their own and better against any other in this division. Greening and Reid are quality acquisitions and Boateng can only add to the experience these two bring. Billy Davies constantly underlined the inexperience in the squad and these three are certainly welcome.
Left back and striker. Hoping for the best!
I agree it is only an attributary factor. I get the feeling that we are holding out for the bargain of te century for every single player. Obviously it is wiser than indiscriminate splurging I feel that the AP does not have a grasp of the current climate and that is why they are apparently struggling. Though if we do sign an excellent player for pittance I will take it all back!
It's a strange market, because, until Leicester came and blew everyone out of the water with their financial muscle, I think that most people felt that the days of large transfer fees were numbered. The Bosman ruling means that come July there are a whole bunch of freebies waiting to be snapped up, and of course for most clubs, including Forest, this is a desirable market. As we move into August, the club will start to target players who are in the last year of their contracts and attempt to panic clubs into selling at bargain prices. I wouldn't have thought we'll see much money exchange hands between championship clubs until these two markets have been exhausted. All this does of course, is serve for an increasingly intense frenzy of activity on transfer deadline day.
Oh your a student alright, practising your big words and long sentences, inflation, your blow-up doll springs to mind, analyse this !
Igor please return to whatever rock you crawled from...
Jealousy is a terrible thing igor.
The article is well written & contains some good points.
I, like you probably were, was educated in Derbyshire, however I took it upon myself to broaden the limited education offered by stated county education system.
Which would explain why I went on to support Forest, whilst you my friend did not have the brains to do anything other than to trot along with your fellow sheep abusers.
Now you go & have a sit down whilst you try to understand what is being said to you.
Have a nice day.
Belper,ha,you could'nt kick a barn door with your assumptions on my education, location etc,as for hannibal,is that really the best you can come up with,im so hurt, planks.

Do the new financial fair play rules only apply to teams competing in Europe? Because im sure Leicester do not have a turnover that supports their current spending spree.

When we inevitably qualify for Europe, I understand we have made a similar arrangement to Man City with sponsors
King Power (the main business of our owners) have taken the naming rights to our stadium - This way we can circumnavigate any rules designed to limit our spending to our income

Think again!
TEG If a deal is done with our ground sponsors to sponsor the stadium for lets say £50 Mil a year and lets not forget Man City's ground sponsors are shelling out £400 Mil for the privilege - It is then classified as club income
any sponsorship deal with a party related to the club's owners has to pass a "fair value" test
You're making rules up as we go along here

Well that cut to the core, how ever shall I recover from that stinging barb of cruelty?
Going back to the argument I think if Leicester do go up and spend wisely next year they will be fine as the spine of their squad is strong now. However if they don't it will be interesting to see what happens.
Also I think most neutrals would love to see them flop as everyone loves to see the big spending teams implode!

Afternoon redlaw, may I offer my apologies,on the wine, and you did not deserve that abuse on a decent article, peace man.
Danger,
TEG has a point, although I'm not sure when these rules will start applying in the Championship. Hopefully we'll be in the PL by then.
