Its looking likely now.
I still think we will sign Ince as well before the deadline.
That would give us loads of attacking options when at the start of the month we had virtually none.
From Sterling, Suarez, Downing (and Suso and Shelvey out of position) to Sterling, Suarez, Sturridge, Borini, Ince, Coutinho, Downing.
Even if I don't rate Ince that highly, that is still a far superior set of attacking options if we can get it done. Even the weakest front three of those would still be a decent line up, far superior to what we have had for quite some time.
................Reina
Johnson..Skrtel..Agger..Enrique
...............Lucas
.......Gerrard.....Henderson
.....Suarez...............Coutinho
...............Sturridge
Still need a CB and a defensive midfielder. But lots of options now going forward - something we've not had for years
Ince just scored for Blackpool.

---------------------------------
He couldn't have, I just said he's not good enough.
Coutinho wouldn't be ready to start straight away IMO, would need to prove himself first. Downing is doing well at the moment too so Coutinho on the bench

First in 11 games, maybe thinking about his move instead of his form?
14th of the season though, not bad for a wide forward.
I'd be thinking of starting Coutinho in the attacking midfield position rather than in a wide forward role.
Don;t know a lot about the lad but I reckon he will take up the deep No10 role that Sahin had a moan about playing.
Can;t fault the board if this goes through. Spending big in January.
yeh id agree that countinho won't play a huge part any time soon. just will be good option from the bench. with his flair, i'd consider him to be the joker in the pack. can also play in the whole, but thats where suarez will play so i think for now coming in from the left will be where he'll play.
Can;t fault the board if this goes through

I am sure some will have a good go
or could be:
Gerrard...Lucas
.....Countinho
Suarez.....Downing
.......Sturridge
could see that as well but for the moment i'd continue playing henderson.
Then they need to sort their heads out then righteous because it would mean that we have signed the two most expensive players in the window (unless you include Zaha's add ons).
I'm very happy with their backing and the trust they are showing in BR. Love it!
We actually have some pace in the side, players who can run quick! Not had that for years, you've got to love a bit of pace!
I agree Robbing.
I think in the summer they just wanted to change manager and take stock for a bit, reduce the wage bill, before authorising any spending sprees.
Now BR has (to a degree), proved himself, I think he will only get more backing in the future, when the time is right.
I don't understand the rampant criticism of the owners by some.
who was the poster who never stopped talking about pace?
It could be an article about Moyes nett spend and he'd bring up Liverpool's pace problem

Ricardo Lux?

I kind of do because of where we are in the league. Until we start beating teams above us rather than have a "good effort" it will continue.
I think we are the 3rd highest spenders since the owners arrival though. NET is a different issue.
might be Lux
it was a while back
Whoever he was, he's gone
It was Lux on the old 606!
Trouble is he had a point at the time. Riera "quite good at a lot of things but excellent at nothing" and diggler on the wings.
He definitely had a point, even if it was laboured.
Pace wins games in the Prem.
Been watching the Arsenal game, Brighton look good. Arsenal struggling with players running at them....
Not a done deal but at last it seems there is some real intent to give us a real collective attacking threat. I want to see us getting back to the days where teams coming to Anfield are under pressure for the whole game.
