What's happening at 'our' club ?

Megson being appointed Town manager?! Well that would save me some cash I suppose. No forking chance I'm spending what little money I have to watch Megson football. Not happening.

Still, I suppose I shouldn't expect anything more from a club that can't even supply my young un with a home shirt in his size.......

So hire away Deano, hire away

You've only to read his profile on Wikipedia...especially when he was at Bolton...His win ratio is poor (below 35%) BUT..he is supposed to be a 'hard' manager, who gets stuck into the players...which when you consider our lazy lot, might be just what they need. They've had too much molly-coddling...Elsie cudn't gee them up, neither cud Grayson...and now Lillis has seen how flipping lazy they are...so maybe Deano is just thinking...okay then, see how you cope with Megson...he'll take no prisoners for sure...and was sacked with Wednesday in 3rd place...which seemed a bit harsh...

Just trying to weedle out a few positives if he is appointed...also, Towns squad stayed at the new FA training camp at St Georges' Park before the game, so they get the best possible treatment...then put in a performance like people have described...so maybe forget the overnight stays etc, let them earn treatment like that...Megson will have them up Holme Moss...and why not ? It's the players who are flunking it, so let him kick some ass... maybe that will gee them up rather than the lovey dovey stuff ?.

Maybe just a 12 month contract, keep us up..and weedle out the 'sicknotes' we have. Sounds to me like we rolled over and had our tummies tickled by Derby...which is not on...In addition, the casualty list is frightening now, and to see Goberns' name on the sub list just scares the poopy out of me.

After the high of the Palace game, I'm back down to earth with a bump today....what is it now 5 points from the drop zone....no players brought in, no word from Deano, no manager......we're sleepwalking back to League One at this rate....

We're doomed !!

You're not doomed. I think you will be ok. Look at Sheff Wed, similar position, after coming up. As long as you get a manager in, then you can regroup in the summer.

I think P'boro are down, I don't think Barnsley can keep up their form. So it's just that other spot.

The thing is, what is materialising out of all this, with Elsie, Grayson and Lillis...is that our players are simply 'not good enough'.

What we think is a period of poor form, is in fact what we are....previous successes were just a short period of over achieving.

...and a lengthening injury list...no new players coming in....an horrendous defence record, no goalscorer, the fans getting fed up...and then Megson on the horizon . if Megson IS answer, then I misunderstood the question.........

Doomed I tell ya', Doomed !!

Megson always comes across as being a decent chap to me,,,,,, He did a red adair job at Bolton,,, I thought he kept them up ? He had the WBA playing good stuff, And Wednesday were a hard working side who were doing well when he got sacked,,,,,,,,,,, Not too long ago,, When Town were after a manager and Megson was in the running, Probably before Ternant ??? Cant remember,,, But i do remember my golfing buddy John Macca stating that the Town players were all sheeting themselves if Megson was appointed,,,,,, They must have been worried about putting some hard graft in for a gaffer who didnt suffer fools,,,,,, Might well be just what we need now,,,,,,, Did Megson play with Lillis at Ciy ? Perhap they are pals ?

“…we cant score,,its all very sporadic...attacks are few and far between and we cant defend..
we have a midfield who want/need far too long on the ball, mostly to do very little with it and usually to have it taken off them..
we lack concentration at the back and ball watch more than an under 10s team..
at what point are these good players???”

Ain’t it the truth? I have been saying exactly this for quite some time.

A prime example… In the first half of the home game against Crystal Palace, Norwood took two corners in quick succession. The ball is static and he has no tacklers coming in to take it from him. The first corner was seriously under-hit so that it didn’t get past the near post, and was cleared by a defender standing there. The second corner was badly over-hit, and went at least six feet above everybody’s head, and out of play for a goal kick

My grandson just fails to qualify for an under 10s’ team, since he is 11 years of age, but he takes a very good corner… on a full sized pitch.

Norwood is 11 years too old to qualify for the under 10s. He was apparently spotted by Manchester United scouts when he was 6 years old and joined the club at the age of 7!

Jacko…

How’s about the Giants? Their first win at Saints for 35 years! It was a fantastic performance, and a great team effort. They win 40 points to 4, and in his post-match comments, Paul Anderson states, “There were parts of the game where we were good and parts of the game where we weren't so good. There is still massive improvement to come”

In the words of Billy Connolly… “That’ll do me!”

Is this the 'Awakening' ?
Is this the time we have to be cruel to be kind, & start missing home games en-mass !

That's the only way the players are going to get the message.
Sitting in silence, even moaning & groaning doesn't seem to invoke any sense of urgency,

Common sense must eventually prevail (you would have thought), The wages have to become more realistic, & feasible in relation to the gate receipts..
as in forget this contract salary nonsense, payed as you perform & results linked.
Lets get rid of the Agents too, Parasites, they cost us money, Big Time.
How ?
Dunno ..But somebody, somewhere, be it a collaboration of Chairmen &/or managers have to tackle this problem head on eventually, It can't go on,
People have had enough of this garbage.

Right fare, Kids can't afford to attend a football match from money earned doing something like a weekly paper round without having to have a top up from Mam & Dad..

These over rated jeepsters want to take a look at themselves.

More & more will stop going if nothing changes.

I loved it the way the Saints fans jeered every time we scored....need to learn a bit of humility I reckon .

I'm sort of coming round a bit about Megson..yeah, he's not a favourite manager for the players, but I wouldn't mind someone coming in and roughing them up a bit...they are the ones who keep letting everybody down after all....okay, you might not have the skills, but you can run, and you can surely follow orders ?

I'd certainly give him a chance I suppose, what have we got to lose, we're going down anyway at this rate, so if he keeps us up, clears out the dross...in the summer...he has good contacts overseas as he has brought in loads of overseas players at former clubs...

He might do us for a couple of years, get us established in the Championship and take it from there....

You can't say he hasn't got experience...and he's pretty single minded too, fallen out with a few chairmen and fans in the past....a tough nut ?

Could be a cracker !! ?

We were well in the game until they scored, and then it could have been much more embarrassing than 3-0. Same as every week, we're pretty solid until we concede and then we just throw in the towel.

posted on 4/2/13

Some (who were also there) make the case that we were still in the game near half time when HAD Skip Clarkey not been concussed and managed to find the net then with a rousing half time dressing room talk & shakeup the 2nd half could've still been game on. 3 games in a week for our relatively new championship breed took its toll so I ain't at all down.

posted on 4/2/13

We were 2-0 down and they were all over us, your friends who were there clearly weren't paying attention!

posted on 4/2/13

Ah, so its just a matter of opinion then & maybe you weren't paying attention opinions sminions

posted on 4/2/13

2-0 down, not a meaningful attempt on goal, they could have had more. There is a BIG difference between opinion and fact my old friend.

posted on 4/2/13

My word, you use the word "friend" a little loosely there fellah eh ? There's been many a half time 2 - 0 reversal on the back of a 44th minute goal.

It is still a game of two halves and of course that really is a fact
As I say Opinions, we all have em, I always have confidence & enjoy Kierans

posted on 4/2/13

Of our 30 matches this season, we've been behind at half time in 11 of them. We haven't managed to come back to win any of those 11 matches and have only gone on to earn a point twice (Palace v 10 men and Birmingham via a last minute equaliser). Therefore even if the skipper had managed to remain uninjured (he was having a mare against Sammon and Wallace improved did better) I struggle to see how anyone would have seriously expected us to mount any kind of comeback.

:D

Hey, weren't you the poster who used to regularly aver that Rhodes n Hunt would ne'er do well in the game and that Benik Afobe would sort of see em both off, in fact I believe you still feel that way yes ?

Hmm as I say 'Opinions' we all have em, just not sure that yours can be relied upon, hey keep on keeping on tho, ye never know one day you might get one right

posted on 4/2/13

Rhodes will never be successful ion the Premier League, neither will Jack Hunt who looks below par in the Championship more often than he looks a world beater. I rated Benik massively in his spell with Town, nothing will change that, unfortunately his career hasn't taken off since then in the way I thought it would have. That being said, I'd still take him above Novak.

posted on 4/2/13

So far NO ONE of note in the Professional business footballing world has shared your 'opinion' and (unlike Rhodes) spent transfer money on him & even after all his time at Arsenal he's still little more than a spare part loanee .. hmm as i keep on saying, opinions eh we all have em, I do rather feel though some are better kept to oneself

Hello hello hello tho, whats this we can all of take note of:-

You currently appear to hold yet another strong opinion regarding the choice of our new manager, at least twice now, when asked you've stated clearly its "Di Canio" well lets ALL of us just see shall we .. if he his I'll eat my frickin beret.

posted on 4/2/13

I just happen to know that Adkins and Di Canio are currently the 2 most likely candidates, that's all. Neither might get the job, but at this moment in time they also happen to be the 2 candidates I think are best suited for the job.

Barcelona were sniffing round Jordan Rhodes when he was a youngster weren't they? Oh no that was Benik.
