Wenger's approval rating was close to 80% end of last season.

Like the fans who carry the banner?

Wenger's approval rating was so high because he did a great job turning things around after a shocking start to the season, the 5-2 vs Spúds, promising signs for the following season.

Then sadly he sold our captain to United, sold our only DM and didn't replace him. Everybody wants Wenger to change his ways and win trophies with us, I think now more than ever, people are thinking he will never do that again.

Did he though? Or did RVP?

RVP carried us for most of the season but our best run of performances and results came when he had stopped scoring for a while. Wenger had the whole team playing well.

Ridiculous question.

Why does Wenger get the blame when we're in poor form, but the players get credit when we're doing well. You can't have it both ways.

Whatever happens with Wenger I hope the club reduces the price of tickets next season and gets proper supporters turning up rather than the plastic brigade there atm. They showed a camera view of two supporters going wild after Podolski scored yesterday, but the majority of the twenty or so people in view around them just sat there hands in pockets at most grinning.

No amount of money is worth sacrificing a good home atmosphere and potentially harming team morale.

Castor Troy

Does it not strike you as strange that the top three clubs in the premier league are the richest,we will never be able to compete with them on financial terms they all have a bottomless pit of money, until the fair play system comes into play the fight for fourth place will be the most we can hope for,and perhaps the odd cup.

AHB, there has already been a freeze on season tickets so prices won't be going down.

I credit Wenger when we play well! Thought he got it spot on against the orc army (stoke) !

It wasn't aimed at you, just people on here in general.

I think it's a freeze on the increase of prices isn't it? So still could go down? Let me check the press release

"Arsenal Football Club has announced it will not be making any ticket price increases next season. "

If we don't get CL football, I'm sure they'll reduce some prices. The season ticket price will have to come down, but hopefully some league games will aswell, particuarly Cat B + C

If we get 4th, the slight majority would probably give him one last season.

We don't look like selling any of our best players next season so wenger would have a great opportunity to really strengthen on what we already have.

However, if we don't get 4th then the majority will most definitely turn on him

Wenger facilitates good football being played by his teams, but seems incapable of affecting what mood they turn up in. He needs mature players on the pitch who posess talismanic qualities.

For me it's kinda ironic that he left the team shy of these kiinda characters these last eight years or so, often removing them for attitude problems and whatnot.

That said our current team has more steel than it had at any time throughout the Fabregas era imo. It just lacks the quality currenty.

Renewals are up soon are they not? Don't think they can base prices on whether we get CL or not.

Next season has to be the one for us I think.

Like Castor says, can't see any major departures, so hopefully get rid of 4-5 outstanding dead-wooders, and get in some real quality to challenge the Manc sides

I don't think the majority of the fans want Wenger out at all. Any grumblings go towards the players they don't like (your Santos', your Ramsey's, the scapegoats) not Wenger. I heard some people yesterday going on and really complaining about Koscielny, about how he wasn't good enough and was sent off every match etc etc.

I think fans would be happier in general if the tickets didn't cost as much. Most of the chants that are anti-Arsenal are just anti-high tickets.

Santos, Arshavin, Squillaci, Fabianski, Mannone will all 100% leave.

Bendtner, Denilson, Chamakh, Park and Djourou will all leave too if we find buyers.

I can also see Sagna, Vermaelen, Rosicky, Diaby and Gervinho all leaving too.

So that could be anything up to 15 first team players out of the club which means another massive squad overhaul for the 3rd Summer running.

I agree people haven't given up on Wenger yet, but failing to finish in the top four could tip the balance. However, I am quietly optimistic that if we can hang on to players like Podolski and Cazorla, and if Wilshere and the English cohort continue to develop we will have a very good core around which to build a team, something which we have been missing for a while. I really, really would like to have seen Fabregas and Wilshere play together longer, I think they'd be absolutely sublime together. If we can finally rid ourselves of the players that simply aren't going to feature in the future (by which I mean Chamakh, Arshavin) and replace them with decent squad players or even just good youth prospects, I think the team will be a much happier place, and we can kick on from there.

The current team is actually quite good, it needs time to gel before we will see the best out of them, but there have been signs in recent games, and if we could get an FA cup it would do the world of good for our confidence. I happen to think we have been incredibly unfortunate not to win a trophy in the last 8 years, we were by far the best team in the league before Eduardo's freak injury, we really should have taken Birmingham more seriously, and a more clinical performance from Henry (or a less abject one from Almunia) in the Champion's League final and we would have beaten Barca with 10 men.

Only problem is that we have been down this road so many times with wenger, hoping that he would change up and address the weakness we have in the team but he has always disappointed so I can't really see much happening.

He's not going to throw money at things to try and come up with a quick fix, you're right. That has never been his style. He'd much rather try and find a long-term solution for next season than fix this season's shortcomings, so events can quickly overcome his strategy. But is that necessarily the wrong answer? You look at teams that try and address issues immediately, and more often that not they fail to fix them or cause other problems.

I agree it's frustrating, but I'm not sure there is a better answer, SAF might be able to throw money around and take the best players from other teams, but we are simply incapable of that. When we've tried we've ended up with Francis Jeffers and the like. No I think his strategy of getting good players that are out of favour is a very good one, it worked for Henry and Podolski, and although it wasn't Wenger it worked for Bergkamp too.
