Wenger has no excuses this Summer

What makes you think this summer will be any different to previous summers.

And who do you think is going to take on that load of deadbeats, unless they are out of contract it will be virtually impossible to move them on unless you pay them off.
If the are not good enough for Arsenal, they wont be much use to anybody else, not for the money you are suggesting.

If rumours are to be believed, then you don't have to be worried Batmanu! Wenger will leave in the summer.

Apart from Diaby and, alas, Gervinho I think that's not a bad assessment of possible departures this coming summer. Possibly Vermaelen might stay, but I think it's more likely he'll be sold.

Sagna has been a great servant, but tbh since his return from injury, he's playing like someone who's already half way out the door.

HOWEVER... I'm not so sure this will change much with regards the kind of summer we should expect.

Bellerin is already more than pencilled in should a RB spot open up, you said yourself only the other day how Rosicky's replacement was probably signed last January, and most of the other players mentioned won't have figured enough for us by the end of this season to merit replacing in the manager's view.

Oh, and Djourou will be back in the fold next season, you can more or less guarantee it.

Can't see Vermaelen leaving. No idea where you got that idea from.

As far as i can mak out, only Arshavin and Squillaci are out of contract?

If no club has already taken the deadwood off our hands, on a permanent deal, then they are unlikely to in the near future. Like it or not, we are lumbered with the likes of Djourou, Chamakh, Park and Bendtner in the club.

Plus, Santos may well leave, but no chance a LB will be signed to replace him. Why would he be? Monreal IS Santos' replacement. The deal is fats tracked to this season, because of Gibbs injury.

Well said. Just how it is, I'm afraid.

It's all about fat with you isn't it?

And as for wholesale player arrivals in the summer....wake the feck up!! Wenger couldn't buy ONE key player during the window, so forget about several.

Sagna is off. Jenks is his replacement. Expect a youth player to step up.

I expect Eisfeld and Gnabry to step up to the first team next season. Same for Miquel. Some crazy fool is even talking up Jack Jebb as making a few 1st team appearances.

I didn't say this Summer will be any different. I am saying this Summer there are no more excuses.

Wenger will sign an African player called 'Dasitnomoresigning', dally around the whole summer, and call it a night.

Lex, I think if Wenger is naive enough to let Djourou go and leave us with only 3 senior CBs then there is no way he is in our plans anymore.

I don't expect the likes of Rosicky and Arshavin to be replaced with big money signings, so yea guys like Eisfeld and Gnabry will probably be more involved next season.

That being said, there are a number of squad members that Wenger obviously does not trust and seeing as there will be so many squad spaces available next Summer, there really is no excuse, he has to buy players that he trusts.

Bats, come on now. This is Arsene Wenger we're talking about. There will always be an excuse waiting in the wings.

Start of window: "We have to concentrate on the fitness. But i expect 2-3 players in".

Middle of Window: "We have to qualify for the CL proper, then we can look to buy"

Nearing End of Window: "If we can find a player of quality, we will go for it. But we won't buy players for the sake of buy"

End of Window: "We keep our powder dry for January"

No way Vermaelen or Gervinho will leave. Also doubt Diaby. Sagna could go but I still think he'll stay.

Jebb isn't even starting regularly for the U18s this season Serial, so there's no way he'll be a first team squad member next season.

As Sagna's likely replacement Bellerin will. As you said, Miquel will step up too - ideally as Djourou's replacement, but as I already said, I expect him to still be with us next season.

Meaning who else from the squad will be replaced from the 'external' market?

And we all know by now the club doesn't DO 'investment', just ever decreasing degrees of re-investment.

Apart from Benzema, Jovetic, Strootman and Chiellini, I really can't see us signing anyone this summer...

If he says that then the AKBs will change their tune. Even they would see that Wenger's ego would be crippling the club.

He has no more excuses now. It will more than likely be his last Summer transfer window with us so he owes it to the next manager that he leaves a half decent squad behind.

Wenger will follow robin to OT as head of youth development.

Hmm... I'm not convinced that this loan to Hannover is for him to get his confidence back.

Could be wrong though, but if so then Miquel will replace him in the squad.

Only Vermaelen leaving would force Wenger to look for a replacement CB from outside what's already at the club.

*isn't just for him...

I nicked this from an AST statmenet after the transfer window closed:

"Failure to qualify for the Champions League will cost the club in the region of £30m to £40m in lost revenue in the 2013-14 season, but this will be compensated for by increased TV and commercial monies that are due as well as income from the sale of the Queensland Road site. On this basis the financial 'hit' is manageable and the AST does not believe there is any case for the present financial austerity."

When you take into consideration the new sponsorship deal to go with the £153.6M in the bank, then there really is absolutely no excuse whatsoever not to spend. In fact not spending should be a sackable offence.
