Subotic he wont be beaten in the air so attacks all high balls, he sits spare allowing Sakho to pick up the main CF, watches him very closely even when we are in attack. keep an eye on his movement so he is there to intercept him and keep his chances to a minimum. Subotic will sit just off him in case he does lose him and will also watch others come through and be onto them quickly without being rash.
Lahm and Baines, two top class fullbacks. Know when to attack and when to sit. When attacking I want them to support those in front of them, ONE AT A TIME, we cant afford to be left exposed at the back. Either send the winger down the line and follow the pass by cutting inside or driving passed the winger, this will either make an extra man in midfield or will take the fullback away leaving more room for Hamsik/Schurrle. If they have a chance and see someone in space drill a pass from the back to get them in. Defend the lines by forcing the wingers outside away from the danger area and keep their crosses into the box to a minimum. Subotic will go up for corners to use his power and height and will be a danger.
Bender is my DM, he sits in front of the CB's and gives them that extra security. His job is simple, stop their AM dictating play. Always watchful ofthe lad and get right onto him, be his shadow, dont allow him any time or space to pass the ball about. Force him into mistakes, Once he has won the ball easy, simple passes to those around him.
Vidal is my dynamic midfielder, he is energetic and always on the go, when they have he will sit alongside Bender to stop them coming through, one of the top CMs for interceptions so will always be looking to break up play. When its won he drives forward, he will stick it out wide to Hamsik or Schurrle or through to Mkhitaryan and Benteke and move up looking for a return, has a great shot and not afraid to have a go. Look to attack when possible but always be wary of them breaking and get back beside Bender.
Mkhitaryan is the playmaker, the attacking midfielder who will support Benteke, he will drive at the defence once we have won the ball he will look to set the wingers/Benteke away, he and Vidal will look to dominate the midfield with their passing range and movement off the ball. With Bend/Vidal breaking up play he can pick the ball up and look around to try and make the best pass to get it beyond their defence and into danger areas. Support Benteke as much as he can and look for knock downs or get beyond him after flick ons. He has a terrific goal scoring record and can shoot from all angles so will be encouraged to do so, also Watching for Vidal coming through to set his fellow cm away and in on goal. Mkhitaryan watches their DM, when defending be on him to stop him passing about, when attacking stay away from him.
Hamsik and Schurrle out wide are different types of players, Schurrle tends to use power and will at times drive inside looking to Mkhit/Vidal etc to pass to and drive into the box looking for a return ball to get in. He does go wide and cross in but will be looking for Baines coming from deep to get him on the outside to cross in, where he makes an extra man in the box. Very skilled and loves to take his marker on, Hamsik tends to pass early and move into dangerous positions he is a player who who would rather pass round the fullback and get down the line, he is quick and skillful and very intelligent and that will get him passed his markers either by quick one twos , or using players around him ie Lahm, Mkhitaryan to set them away to allow him to drive on himself and get into dangerous areas. Both he and Schurrle have good shots so when they cutting in pass and scream for the ball to have a go at goal. When they have both track the runs of their respective fullbacks and stop them getting forward and becoming a danger.
Benteke is deceptively quick, skillfull and has a mean eye for goal, will have loads of support so he must move about looking to get into open spaces to get the ball from those around him, keep away from his marker and always be ready to pounce, extremely powerful and very difficult to get off the ball so he can power his way towards goal. Will win most high balls so other players must be quick off there guard to get in and look for the balls he wins.
