Zaha or Ince

so dont really understand the 15m Utd paid for Zaha

................

To be able to understand this, you need to get the basic facts correct.

We have the upper hand on the Ince transfer purely because he wants to come back to Liverpool. He sees his place at Blackpool as nothing more than a sabbatical.

We also have to offer 35% less than anyone else courtesy of the sell on clause.

The board have played it right not to get strong armed by Oyston. As long as he is at Melwood for pre season training I'm happy with that.

They couldn't get Ince.

Ince senior fell out with Fergie
There's no way Fergie would want to put 35% into Liverpools coffers.

Always?

Ince is a better player than Zaha... £15m?

What are you questioning?

Whatever directly preceded the question mark... thought that would be obvious... you know, with the question mark being there.

Are you having problems with recognising a question mark?

So, why are you questioning 15million. What is the relevence of 15 million.

I would have thought that was obvious.

'So dont really understand the 15m Utd paid for Zaha?'

but you do understand the 35 Million Liverpool paid for Andy Carrol?

i remember getting being laughed at by some, by claiming it was an investment for the future....

'Imagine 10 years service of Englands elite forward, and that will make the deal worth it'...
well that was 1 year ago....
anyhoo we can take the hit with 15 mil...
his potential speaks volumes... at the very least he wont be a financial disaster

Redinthehead, you still there?

What is the relevance of 15 million?

posted on 6/2/13

You mentioned 15m not being precise figure... What is the precise figure? Hence the question.

You never asked the question. You put a figure with a question martk behind it, hence me asking you what the relevance was.

The answer, noew I know what you were asking is:

10 million, plus 5 million in add ons.

Do you want me to explain what add ons are?

No. It is already normal size. I use them to make it look 'hung like a baboon' size.

Na, I think they're the 'optional extras' VC chose when picking out his mail order bride. Normal people, when choosing a car, would go for air con', or alloy wheels. VC went for 'self inflate' and 'can take heavier loads' .

VC - do you think it's more worthwhile spending £15m on a player with potential, rather than a proven player? I mean, for an example a player like Sneijder went for £8.5m.

Liverpool spent £16m on Henderson for his potential. Thus far it's seems like just maybe it will work out, however, there are players who'd improve you instantly for £16m.

Perhaps United are in a better position to do this, being top of the league and not needing an instant contribution but for me, it's a dangerous time for you. Scholes and Giggs have to be in their final season. Anderson is a decent player but not United first eleven material, Carrick again decent but even he is creeping up to thirty. RVP is creeping up. Vidic, Ferdinand and Evra also. Do you think United should be investing so much in potential or would it not be better buying already proven players for £15m for example. You have been doing that a lot recently with De Gea, Jones, Smalling and Zaha that I can think of, will these players be ready to replace the aging one's? De Gea has shown that he can be a great keeper already but was he ready? I feel his mistakes show that not just yet. It's done now so you have to stick with it, knowing he'll improve with age. Smalling, Jones and Zaha have all shown their potential but do they have the quality to step straight in, perhaps next season?

Sorry I meant £5m with the £10m optional addons. Palace's quote, "here Fergie, just fire us the cash down whenever you feel like it, if you want, like.

OK, let's leave the price out and say, spending a lot of money on a player with potential....

In answer to the rest, look back at how United have been at the top for the last twenty years.

Look at how SAF has built all his teams.

Buying proven players doesn't always work out, see Veron and Berbatov for example.

But Fergie has always spent big on proven players, yes in the background he has bought a few young players but never for these types of fees. When a player was old and ready to move on, like Pallister or Bruce for an example, who was signed?

Cole and Yorke, who was signed?

Never was it young players with potential, always proven players for big cash.

I suspect changes at United.

...............

Not as often as you think. SAF only signed the odd one or two proven players to compliment his younger ones. remember he has been doing this for 26 years or so.

.................

....................

Back in the early days he didn't have to buy them, they came through the youth set up. But the FA then went and changed the rules, limmiting where you could sign the youth players from. They had to be from within a certain distance from the club.

This led to having to by young players from abroad, to get round this rule. Hense SAF buying Ronaldo, Nani Vidic, Anderson etc.

Rafa done it, in plenty, for your own club as well.

.....................

There are always changes at United. SAF knows we can not sit still, and he never has.
