Wages comparison to League position...

Everybody knows that Arsenal
clearly throw more wages at
their players than Spus, and that
equates to about £50 milion a
year more, which over a 5 year
period equates to something like
a quarter of a billion bigger
spend on wages than Spurs. And
what for a one point gap last
season.
I suggest it is you that is the idiot
for trying to deny what is a fact.
----------

And here comes the village idiot himself. Please, show me where I denied this you half-wit. I'm showing the stupidity of mocking our wage bill which over the years has been 5th or 4th in the league when we always finish thereabouts 3rd or 4th. Of course we pay higher wages than Spurs cos we're capable of doing so you half-wit.

Again, why hasn't your club fully disclosed your 2011/2012 financial reports?

That should be a private matter for the club, and shareholders, they do not have to reveal to all and sundry. Do you go around showing everybody your wage slip at work?

Well that's just stupid. I could pay more for a cup of coffee in star bucks than the £3.30 they are asking, doesn't mean I will.

In an Arsenal squad littered with average and slightly above average players, and young players, how you spend £50m more a year than Spurs shows up the flaw in Arsenals approach to wages...."we pay more cos we can" is the same as saying we like needlessly throwing money away.

As for Spurs figures, their 2010/11 wages were their highest, reflecting the bloated squad we had under Harry in the CL. Our squad has been trimmed significantly since then and will be millions lower.

That's a moronic analogy. We pay higher wages cos we earn much higher revenue and for well over a decade, we've played at a generally much higher level of football than Spurs, including annual Champion League football. If you had our revenue stream and Champions League football, you'd pay much higher wages too.

I can tell you with certainty this is untrue. No way in hell have you had wage cuts. Bale and Adebayor for starters have joined the 6-figure wage club (only Walcott at Arsenal earns 6 figure wages). We also thought we cut wages in shipping off the likes of Cesc and Nasri but our wage bill only increased by over £20m in just 1 year.

A bit too simplistic other than as a snapshot.
If data such as :

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/competitions/premier-league/9514149/Graphic-Premier-League-transfer-and-wage-spending-from-the-200001-season-to-201112.html

were used to construct a set of such charts, then you would get a better picture. And see stuff like the wage trends for clubs.

"Arsenal with the 4th highest wage bill in the country finishing 4th every season. Oh dear, I am truly flabbergasted."

Wonder what Batmanu will be, when he realises the club with the 3rd highest wage bill in the country finishes "1st" every season ...

"I have often said that Spurs are doing very well when you compare the whole financial picture, and I think this report backs that up."

The only black mark is ticket prices (which is a consequence of lower revenue, smaller stadium etc) .

"Their net transfer spend is also very low."

In the past 3+ years, certainly.
Go further back and you get a different picture.

It is well known about Arsenal have all there players on silly contracts right down the youth system.

I had them take two boys on trial, one was really successful and the amount he was offered was eye watering. The other boy who they did not seem as interested in (and probably just brought him in to help the other one settle) was offered just 10% less!

The media always say Wenger is ready to spend but There is no proof "the money" is there to spend. What if "the money" media talk about is tied up in their youth system?

Sherriff John

£50m extra on wages a year compared to Spurs, in a squad of 30, is the same as playing each player £1.65m more per year or about £33k extra a week, per player.

You clearly are not a ST holder concerned where your minimum £1200 is going, because i would be incensed if my club thought it was fine to waste their massive ticket prices on over-paying a lot of average players
