cut and paste eh the best sort of plagiarism!

So we cannot assume that if a news gathering website publishes an article in full from a large newspaper groups paper that that implies the large newspaper group is happy for it to be seen elsewhere.

Meant to put a question mark at the end.

Sun - Theiving batids

they stole my article on steed malbranque missing that penalty against psv. They stole every word and quoted it all. They led with it on the backpage.

If that happens on here let us know and we can take legal action.

Admin - how do you create a hyperlink in your article? I have previously posted website address links, and they haven't shown as "clickable".

In articles you need to prefix the address with "http://"

I don't understand what are we not allowed to do? And, where and what from are we not allowed to copyright?

If any of these people have a problem with me using their quotes or links on sites such as JA606 then they can come and find me. I ain't listening to no-one and their stupid rules, espeically in a world where newspapers hack non-stop.

Ja606 is responsible for what is on the site, I would imagine they could be fined if users continue to copyright. Well at least if appropriate action isn't taken, like deleting articles and even banning the user.

It's simple, don't copy who articles from other sources, be creative, read the article and put your own slant on it, maybe copy a paragraph and reference it.

I understand that, but the point I'm trying to make is I can go on any site, copy a paragraph from somewhere and use it on that site. My two questions are how can they find the person that did this and isn't it a stupid rule by those who made it?

The only thing I copy is URL's, i.e. from Youtube and BBC... Is that allowed?

According to the terms and conditions here, they say they aren't liable...so I don't know.

If you copy from somewhere and use it, you are committing an offence. If they want to proceed with legal proceedings they will contact the police, or rather their lawyers will and the police have people who can track down your IP address to your location. They could even ask Ja606 for it and I guess they would have to hand it over. Is it a stupid rule? Yes. The web is fecking public, you're putting stuff on for the public to see and therefore the public should govern it, not governments. It's not physical and therefore it's not part of any country.

"The only thing I copy is URL's, i.e. from Youtube and BBC... Is that allowed?"

I think so, yes.

There's a concept of "fair use". It's what allows newspapers to use stuff from elsewhere. And us to use stuff on here. Provided that what we do stands up to a reasonable test of "fair use". To simplify it, you are probably OK if:-

1) you quote part an article elsewhere, rather than just copy the whole article.

2) you clearly acknowledge the origins of the article, preferably by stating who wrote it and providing a link to the original.

"Fair use" is kinda the equivalent of BBS News showing the various newspaper headlines for the next day and then chatting around what each paper is saying. As opposed to reading out each front page in its entirety

All you need to do to avoid plagiarism charges is say 'Taken from [name source and date]' and put in a link if you want to.
Whatever you do, don't become a German government minister and claim you have a PhD. Taken from the BBC News website 9 February 2013:

I don’t think its being credited that they care about Aries what they’re concerned about is advertising.
The price of advertising is based on the number of visitors to a site. If someone posts elsewhere content that they’ve written and they don’t get a click through then there was no point them writing the article, in fact there’s no point them having a website.
