Yes admin, too idle. I shouldn't say it's a fault of the site really, it's not.

Just not enough traffic or new threads on the wolves page. Not enough stimulation. You have a better level of moderation because some posters worry that if they speak freely there will be sanctions. But as a result the page lacks the buzz of 12 yards at the moment.

I don't want to start a thread because I don't want to sit here and babysit the thing whilst others post. I don't want o be responsible for the comments of others on my thread.

I think most of the 12 yarders would agree on the 'liveliness' issue. Like I say, no fault of JA, just the way it is at present.

It feels like we have a message board here, rather than a community.

I think there are still quite a few who haven't come over yet, plus the fact that the needless personal insults on articles and comments isn't tolerated on here as much.

Matador, I think the site by its nature of being a rather big monolith with hundreds of millions of pageviews and 160,000+ articles results in us having obligations such as dealing with national newspaper groups who get upset or police forces who require our involvement.

The reality is, most threads don't need to be babysat and we will delete them if they get out of hand. The issue arises when people deliberately post controvesial articles "is Dean Saunders a total ? "and then sod off. From memory such stuffs, ends out leaving us with comments where people are threating to punch someones mum in the mouth after they have climbed off her.

12Yards was an illegal drinking den in Low Hill. Occasionally a mod would reach under the bar for the shotgun, but most arguments were settled with a good old-fashioned straightener.

BBC606 was far tougher than this place. The admins were mainly students being paid a pound and a pot noodle a day - they wouldn't even read complaints but would just delete on request.

Like I say admin, I appreciate the job you're doing, and the site has to be run the way it is due to its size.

My views may change if our page evolves with new posters.

Herb has this bang on though. When you entered our previous site, you entered a lock in. There where nights where I'd metaphorically wrap a pool cue around someone's head, there were nights when we'd have to leave our own pub as the baggies took over.

Herb and Cinci ran the door. There were occasional misdemeanours that shouldn't have gone on, but our mod bouncers would still stand on the door and face the pavement turning a blind eye knowing that it added to the flavour.

We were Portsmouth. We rode by the seat of our pants, not knowing if the next day was our last but knowing that if it was it was going to be a hell of a night. Now new owners have taken over Pompey and we are safer and more assured, but it's a little predictable now, if not a little boring.

Because. of its size and not having. open. registration 12 y was completely lawless. I and. others posted things we knew were. beyond normal limits.

On JA we're. in the real world. and can't. do that

Just for full disclosure, the wolves board since we acquired it have a couple of complainers who "demand action" for "unacceptable sleights" and who complain about fellow fans with a frequency that is not seen elsewhere on the ja606 site. We have started to add filters since there there is no doubt a degree of funny business carried over from the "lock in" dynamic of 12y.

We kinda feel bad having to take guys like tatter to task for incidents like today. I suspect on 12y it would have been in some respects a case of tree falling in the woods. On ja606 we have google bots on the site constantly, which results in us being indexed very rapidly for breaking content, which does ultimately create issues for newspapers fighting for the same traffic. I'm not sure how or if 12 yards would have acted given the challenges of today?

Admin2 and I are fairly thick sinned and this kinda stuff isn't uncommon: http://www.ja606.co.uk/comments/viewAllComments/188660

There are however users on here who get in a huge tizz about stuff and we like the old606 need to give them at least some semblance of indulgence.

I believe admin does a grand job. I for one have noticed that the articles and comments are debated in a civilized manner, coupled with good humoured banter. Unlike 36 feet which was totally out of control. That's not intended to mean that both Herbie and cinci didn't do a good job. But a lot of what went on could and should have been nipped in the bud long ago.

Anyway, well done admin for being a darn good moderator.

I totally understand admin, and appreciate your views on the matter.

It's not criticism, more an observation. It will be interesting to see how our page evolves.

I keep referring to it as a page...feels like we don't have something that is ours anymore...we're a cog in a chain on a mass production line.

We don't know if we're going to make the final packet, or get turfed out by quality control for being a little too 'knobberly' for consumption.

Admin 1, I wouldn't feel bad about having to take anyone who oversteps the mark, to task.

Like I said, it got way out of hand on 36 feet.

Yesterday during one match I banned three users(Arsenal and Utd fans) who had made something like 80,000+ comments between them cause they posted I.R A on a Celtic match thread. There are police forces who look at the site and who can and have called me on my mobile. There is no concept of "lock in" and I sleep with the laptop and phone on at the side of my bed to deal with important issues as they arise. On a bad night i might not get 1 hour solid sleep.

Our commitment to the Wolves board should not be downplayed and it is a very important part of our site. Hopefully from my involvement and comments that is clear to the ex users of 12y. This is probably the third or 4th time 12 yarders have come here, for the sake of the site as a whole we need to try and make that dynamic work.

You struggled there didn't you though Wolfie to be fair.

You kept putting your pounds on the snooker table, only for the players to pick it and use them to buy their pints with.

I'd had enough as well and was relieved when Art pulled the curtains.

Over a 1 year period I must have had just 100 complaints maximum, but 90 of those came in the final three weeks from just four or five posters who had personal gripes and agendas going back ages.

The blood and teeth hitting the sawdust was never a problem - it was the demands for judicial enquiries over dropped stitches and stolen jam recipes that did my nut in.

posted on 14/2/13

Matador. I held my own and more against the same 5 or so posters. Thankfully they haven't been on here that much to continue the soap operas.

Admin 1. There's one thing taking it on the chin once or twice, but when it's non stop, then you either get knocked out or get some help. That can only come from you and admin 2. There's no point in having terms and conditions unless you uphold and implement them. That's where art failed on 36 feet.

Should be much easier to wum your enemies on here, Wolfie. Stealthy antagonism using historical allusions will never be detected
