For quality - Henry
For consistency - Giggs
imho it has to be Stephen freund!!!
For me the 'greatest' and 'best' mean two different things
For me the greatest would be Ryan Giggs because the man has no limits. Not even time. Alan shearer would not be too far behind
As for the best player ever in the PL I would say Paul Scholes with Henry not too far behind
Schmeichel, best ever in his position
You disqualified Shearer the minute you used the word 'all round'. For sheer quality and true dominance of the league in their primes, you can't look past Henry and Ronaldo.
Schmeichel was special wasnt he?
And mthhierry, Henry did have his flaws he was useless with his head.
Ronaldo was good but nowhere near great in my books.
Rooney will go down at the best PL player ever
But Ronaldo could do it all, including head the ball
HENRY by an absolute mile!!!
Ronaldo had the lot when he was at man utd, no winger scores as many as he does. He probably is the best ever premier league player tbf
Really? The only Premier League player to win the world and european footballer of the year awards inspiring his team to being crowned English and European champions is 'nowhere near great'? How did you work that out?
And while Henry's aerial game wasn't the best, Shearer doesn't come within a country mile of his technique, vision, invention and guile.
I don't think anyone can look past Ronaldo. Ballon D'or says it all, really.
Absolutely tore teams apart, as an individual anyway, without doubt (for me) the best player to grace this league.
Technical ability, strength, power, pace, mental ability and it his later seasons created unbelievable scoring records that had the world's best players (Kaka, for one) hailing him as unstoppable.
Bar Messi I don't think we'll see a better player in the world for a long time.
Ronaldo did win the Ball D'or indeed and no one can take that away from him.
He wasnt up against the likes of Zidane, Ronaldinho or in a WC year when he won it either.
I also think that Rooney will go down as the best ever PL player. He has won us 3 CLs and 7 PL titles. Pretty much single handedly. Don't see how you can look past Rooney.
Rooney is one of the greatest but still has a while to go before he can be the greatest. If carrys on his good form for 5 more years
He was up against Kaka, Iniesta, Xavi, Messi etc etc.
Rooney can even go bald and grow new hair out of nowhere - truly astonishing
And a mug comes into the debate.
I think Rooney will get the Ballon D'or this year because he was the best player in the best league, and he single handedly got us to the CL final where he was the best player on the pitch on the night. He will win it this year and most likely for the next few seasons.
Rooney could attain the longevity but if we're going on peak ability, he doesn't come close to Henry and Ronaldo.
