His ability in general play is rank average. Goals are no longer the only way of judging a players worth. In this day and age of playing a lone centre forward, the most valuable players are those who can score AND link up play/assist. Gomez may score many but the man is a glorified tap in merchant. He adds very little to a team IMO, and if anything is more of a hindrance to a teams play. Compare him to the likes of RvP and Ibrahimovic and you'll see clearly what I mean.
