He will seriouly wonder what he has to do to get his spot back there.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
How bout play consistently well and not just against Reading in a nothing FA Cup tie?
If Nani gets sold I bet people slate Sir Alex but forget that Nani has had plenty of opportunities to make that spot his own. Just like Berbatov.
In injury time a Reading player was out wide on the touchline, no danger at all and Nani decides to stick the shoulder into the fella's back and suddenly they have a free kick in a potentially dangerous position. Was really stupid and unnecessary. I thought to myself that if this goes in it'll be a long time before we see Nani playing again.
...........
What made it even worse is the ref let them move it ten yards closer and about five yards further in field. It happened literally on the touchline.
No one is saying Cleverly was crap or is a poor player. It is just that last night's showing was not his finest.
As people already articulated above, his use of the ball - which is, IMO one of the strongest parts of his game - was sloppy all game. Maybe complacency/fatigue or a lack of concentration?

But Valencia has been consistently crap all season long. He hasn't come close to putting in the level of performance that Nani put in last night. So I feel it's fair to say that Nani deserves to start on the right on Saturday in place of Valencia. If he's crap then Fergie can review the situation again, but I feel he definitely deserves the chance.
Maybe complacency/fatigue or a lack of concentration?
--------------
The ground he covered probably says he isn't fatigued
Just an off day with his passing for me but he did make up for it in other areas.
Patriarch
Fair enough and I can't justify how Valencia has played so Nani does deserve to start against QPR.
But it's not outside the realms of possibility to think that last night was just a good game in Nani's long line of inconsitency and perhaps the damage has already been done regarding a summer move.

He still made the wrong decision a few times though, and I can see how it will irk SAF.
--------------------
Did you see his face when Nani shot from 40 yards. He was furious
I really do think the boss does get annoyed with Nani far more easily than the other players
Bloody mystery
------------------------------
Is it a mystery? How many times has Nani scored from 40 yards? How may times do our other players even try to score from 40 yards?
If Nani frustrates so many United supporters with his long range efforts, why wouldn't he also frustrate our manager? At the end of the day, SAF is the man that gives Nani his instructions before he goes out and plays. He has even more of a reason to be frustrated by Nani if he isn't doing as told.
Red Rob : Filtered by geriatrics since 2013 (U9808)
I don't let myself get involved with all the conspiracy theories that surrounds football. It might be complete balls and Nani could be here for the rest of his career. It's all speculation and I won't waste my time going into it.
However, yes, last night might be just one good game which Nani will follow up with three or four bad ones. He's notoriously inconsistent. Nobody has argued otherwise. The point still stands that he deserves to start ahead of Valencia on Saturday.
Patriarch
And i'm not arguing that. He does deserve to start against QPR.
Whether or not he follows yesterday up with a decent performance is the big question that will be answered on Saturday night.
I hope that with us being 12 points ahead and playing the bottom team in the league that SAF finally deploys the famous 4:
Nani..Rooney..Kagawa
...........RVP
Looking at who has played and been rested in the last few games, I think that there is a chance it will happen.
Is it a mystery? How many times has Nani scored from 40 yards? How may times do our other players even try to score from 40 yards?
---------------
That was just an example
Other players do stupid things to but you don't see SAF raging anything like he does with Nani
Look at the Chelsea Cup game. Nothing was said about Chich being offside at the end but Nani got slated
There is a problem there. I'm sure of it.
It was clear to see last night that Nani has been working hard. He even mentioned it himslef, yet hwe could not get in ahead of a player who has been pants all season
Just does not make sense. Why not reward a player with a start if he has clearly been working hard in training.
Nani should have been nailed on for last night ahead of Valencia
Is it a mystery? How many times has Nani scored from 40 yards? How may times do our other players even try to score from 40 yards?
----------
Maybe he shouldn't have attempted that outrageous volley or intercept a pass meant for someone else with sublime control and then finish it just a beautifully
Nani tries outrageous things because he's capable
Even Carrick shot from 35 yards last season (I think) and hit the post. No one moaned at that

Absolutely love that name
Carrick doesn't shoot often enough.
The Rome game showed he is perfectly capable.
Well, Nani did mention that he has been injured for a long time in his post-match interview. I am not sure that I buy that as the whole reason, but if the player is saying it, perhaps it is true? To be fair, last night was the first time in ages that I have seen him really running at defenders and committing them. So I am inclined to believe that he really has been struggling with injury up until now.
As for Hernandez, I think that it is fair to say that he has developed a fair bit since he joined United. Has Nani done the same? Not for me. SAF's frustration at Nani could be the result of years of trying to coach him to be a better player with little success?
However, yes, last night might be just one good game which Nani will follow up with three or four bad ones

Like Danny, Young and Valencia then. No wait, Valencia hasn;t had one this season
Nani may follow it up with a poor game because I have no doubt that if he isn't dropped, he'll be back on the left, and he'll get slated
Leave him on the right for a few games and we will benefit like we did season beofre last
Not rocket science for me considering nobody is playing well on the right flank

That is one of my biggest criticisms of Carrick that ties along with taking the game by the scruff of the neck.
He certainly has the skills and plays a similar position to Pirlo and Alonso and those two influence games on a greater scale than Carrick (even accounting for variables like position, midfield partners etc).
I have often said that when Scholes was on the pitch, Carrick's default pass was to Scholes, 99 out of a 100 times. When Scholes was absent, Carrick, suddenly seemed more unschackled and probes forward.

I am sorry, but I have witnessed Nani shoot from ridiculous angles and too far out and far too many occasions for my liking. That isn't to say that he shouldn't try it sometimes, but most United fans will admit that his approach to the game is frustrating. I think he plays for himself more often than not and maybe SAF has the same opinion? It might explain why he prefers Valencia?
As for Carrick having a shot, he should do it more frequently.
