Why Should Wenger Stay?

who would you replace him with?

cant just kick him out with no one in line to replace him. that would make us even worse

I blame the team more. They are more than capable of dealing with teams like Blackburn.

That is the main argument. "If we didn't have Wenger we might do a Liverpool "

(From the people who see where we are now as a success)

I'm not necessarily saying that I think Wenger should stay, but I do think that he is probably our biggest draw in signing new players over other clubs, especially young talent.

do you think sacking wenger and having steve bould in charge would improve us?

It's not just down to his managerial ability. I think the rejuvinative effect from hiring a new manager would do wonders for us. A lot of our defeats come from MISTAKES, which point to a lack of confidence.

Chelsea fan here

honestly, who are the realistic candidates you think would do a better job than Wenger?

funy thing is that much as you moan about him, i would deffo have Wenger at Chelsea

if he left Arsenal there would be no shortage of takers for him, and imo you would end up regretting it

only manager i can think of available is Di Matteo

Digby

Maybe. It would definitely improve us defensively.

I would wait until summer before making a change, though.

de Boer - my choice. Young, thus long term, modern, tactical, commands respect, experienced at bringing through Youth Players (ran the Ajax Youth Academy), title winning, would relish the challenge.

failing that, Pelligrini.

Wenger doesnt tell the players to be sloppy cak

Yeah, but the lack of confidence around the place at the moment must surely contribute to it.

Having a new manager would be a breath of fresh air. Suddenly, players out of the first team would start performing again because under a new manager they may be considered.

you are one of the few people saying wenger out who can name names op

its just the problem of if they are actually available

^^^Just one example of how it would improve. And a new manager would probably give us a plan B, as well.

no manager could give us a plan b with gervinho on the bench

Both good choices - if de Boer came, do you think Dennis would come too?

A club like Arsenal can still attract big names. 60,000 seater stadium, good budget available (I believe this to be the case) and a pretty good team.

Thanks Digby, have a

There's absolutely no point in sacking someone without a plan to improve things.

The way Ajax operate is something I respect - retaining great ex-players to inspire the next generation, training them as coaches so they impart skills, along with their flair and wisdom to the next generation.

Ex-winners also have that "been there, done that" attitude that breeds calmness amongst their charges.

but for that we would need the board to change too, lets kidnap kroenke

Dennis's fear of flying is something that might prevent it happening, unfortunately. 4

No real 'obvious' candidates...

Klopp (unlikely to leave Dortmund), Moyes (huge gamble), De Boer (potentially great, likely to be at Ajax for a while yet, untested at such a level), Laudrup (personal fave, but not yet done enough to take a top job imo, yet...), Martinez (never got him being linked with the job, a no for me).

Any others?

Someday - I'd absolutely love to have DB10 back at the Club. My ideal coaching setup would involve:

Keown - Helped Arsenal keep a CL record of 10 Clean Sheets in a ROW while doing his coaching badges, WHY wasn't he kept on?
Dixon - His analysis is always spot-on as a pundit.
Bould - Knows the Club, we saw at the start of the season how well he can do.
Vieira - Legend, winner, motivator.
Pires - See above.
DB10 - Already a Coach, just so intelligent.
TH14 - Commands respect. Has been coached by some of the worlds best, again, very intelligent. Has done and won it all, and loves the club so much.

To answer your question, he should stay in order to turn things around. But he will have to drop being egotistical and embrace a lot of change.

I have a feeling that Kroenke will sell up in a few years anyway. He'll probably make a few hundred million profit from it as well.

People who say that Usmanov just wants us for money are deluded, as well. He's worth £17.3bn (December 2012) so the few hundred million he could get by running Arsenal into the ground would be peanuts. I think under him we'd be better for it.

Digby, there needs to be a fan presence on the board - not necessarily a fan representative, but a Dein type for whom ever loss hurts them as much as the fans. I should say that I still firmly believe that Usmanov is not the answer, fan or not.
