Well I’ll sleep better tonight knowing that. Cheers Tara
Couldn't help spotting this on the same page:
"Had the Championship season commenced on 1st November 2012 when Mick McCarthy was appointed as Ipswich Town manager, then at the time of writing the Blues would be placed an incredible fourth rather than 18th in the league."
I thought this was common knowledge ?
Maybe we should get him back ? I'll run it past Steve .......and get back to you
IoB what you’re forgetting is that Ipswich had a really good squad when MM went there and that he (or any other average manager) was bound to turn them around without any problems.
Now admittedly Ipswich had been bottom of half of Div2 the last three seasons running but that wasn’t the players it was the managers.
Wolves on the other hand have terrible players and Stale (or any other brilliant manager) was bound to find it difficult to keep them out of the bottom half of Div2.
Now admittedly they did OK in the Prem for a couple of years and we spent £10m plus in the summer but is that really any basis for building a top half of Div2 side?
Fourth you say, Bute. According to some on here he has struggled terribly to get Ipswich away from the relegation zone.
An abject failure according to the league table.
Stale, on the other hand, would have had Wolves safely in mid table if wasn't for those moronic fans that called for his shiny head.
I disagree that Ipswich had a better squad. Stearman walked off our bench into their defence.
It wasn't about quality, our players suffered mentally for their run of losses from the premier league, which continued for the first 20 championship games.
So do I Pundit but I was echoing something said by one of our transatlantic geniuses who are never wrong about anything though so it must be you and I that know nothing.
For gods sake IOB - Mick did brilliantly with a threadbare Wolves team in this division so was it ever in doubt that he wouldnt do well with Ipswich? He is a brilliant championship mananger - no doubt.
But he struggled in the PL for three seasons - the second season we stayed up by by the skin of the teeth. Not because of Hunts goal as many claim but because of two goals scored a 100 miles or so south of the Midlands. That was the time to get rid of MM. I dont know how many games you went to but I went to most home games until mid way through our third PL season and (apart from a couple of sparkling performances against the top 4 teams) we were dire.
There is no doubt in my mind that if MM had stayed we would still have been relegated. We would have been better placed to bounce straight back, thats true, but it would still have happened.
Why does no-one ever talk about TC and his clipboard?
What would you like to say about him?
“the second season we stayed up by by the skin of the teeth. Not because of Hunts goal as many claim but because of two goals scored a 100 miles or so south of the Midlands.”
This is one of the pieces of revisionist rubbish that gets trotted out so frequently and annoys me so much I have difficulty not swearing when I read it.
We stayed up because we got 40 points and teams are almost never relegated on 40 points. We had those 40 points with a game to spare. We were not lucky to stay up we would have been incredibly unlucky to go down.
Don't shoot the messenger. I was merely quoting a snippet I spotted on that page. Of course, as an impartial observer I'm interested to see how Ipswich have climbed off the very bottom since our ex-manager took charge. It's been quite a turnaround.
I would like ignore him again to say that if Mick is now holds a God-like status at our club then we are in trouble.

Take out the 'is' and read it.
And put a 'to' after like.
Thank you. I'm here all week.
I think we all know that Nouble was signed by TC tara, but stating that it was SS that signed him is one way that I get some unnamed fans who just happen to be west of the British Isles to bite.
It's called wumming. Ever heard of it?
Wumming,you say.
Whats that then?
It's the noise that wumming birds make.
