Probably a fair point. I really thought this was a tie for suso to come on. Was he even on the bench
I notice you make no comment of Assaidi taking all of Enriques space, thus losing our biggest threat of the game other than Suarez.
Shelvey was poor when came on.
Typical of Rodger. His subs are always bad. We came back before the subs.
Looking back we lost momentum when he and sterling come on, not entirely their fault maybe BR should of waited at tad. Lets not forget BR will probably have learnt a lesson or two tonight.
People don't understand if we are playing 3 man midfield it has to very mobile. Shelvey isn't that type and never will be, so, I'm having hard time seeing him fit the bill.. Anyway it will be hard for him to get starting place, with Gerrard & Lucas granted, and than you have Henderson, Allen, and perhaps we're after someone like Eriksen
If we had Strurridge we would have gone through.

==================================
I was actually suprised he even got game time considering he's not kicked a ball in a red shirt for months.
I disagree
Shelvey has lost form but has a future here
Fully agree...., Brendans subs are questionable once again..., bringing on Shelvey (slow, stupid and clumsy) and Assaidi who hasn't played for months.
Killed the game and our chances.
Disagree with the Assaidi comment, he was a threat out of all the subs, we missed Henderson, who quite simply ran his heart out for us. Allens not played enough and was getting bossed of the ball.
The stage was set for shelvey, who decided to not play football! The foul made my blood boil, things like potentially could cost you games!
Also I saw downing struggle, he needs a rest!
Hendo is a nailed on starter for me now
I do agree that Assiadi looked dangerous.
Hendo was shattered so I can understand the sub, assaidi was quality but shelvey was clumsy and I tnink his confidence is shot tbh.
Hope we get european football next season these nights are great, esp for the players to experience.
All Assaidi ever does is look dangerous.
He never actually produces anything.
Right it would help if he got some consistent game time but he won't now as Coutinho will play in that position in the prem.
Besides what does Downing produce other than running in blind alleys?
righteous1.. ever? How many games the lad's played with us?
Sterling was rubbish tonight
he needs to get his head back in it
he plays with fear in big matches
Is agree Kash, Downing doesn't produce anything either.
In terms of of our attack the wide positions are easily the weakest part of our team.
Coutinho has and will help, 1 game and 1 goal, think he may have got an assist as well.
Sterling, I think he has suffered from playing on the right a bit too much. The strongest part of his came for the academy was coming from the left across the line and getting shots in. He was a bit one dimensional, but he was very good at it.
He just looks a bit lost at the moment, unsure of himself. I am sure it will come back for him in time, not a bad thing for him to have a humbling period.
Assaidi may not have had many games, but in all of them you can see his glaring weaknesses of poor movement and lack of end product. You can also see his excellent control and one v one skills, but at 24/25 he should have the former by now and that is the most important part of the game, not flashy control that gets people excited. Funny how people criticise the signing of Zaha by Man Utd, but Assaidi is like a 25 year old Zaha who didn't improve his end product over the 5 year age difference.
Ultimately he just isn't good enough.
