that is a good point.

If you look at Unted, seldom do they win by thrashing their opponents.

However, a win is more important as it get the 3points?

Spurs do also have a good defense and a good keeper while our defense and keeper have been grossley out of form.

At the end of the day points get you prizes and I there is a huge gap between a win and a draw. Draw every game 0-0 you're on 38 points and battling for relegation, win every game 1-0 you're on 114 points having scored less than 40.

Consistency is key and that's the main reason why Spurs are going to be playing Champions League next season and not us.

We've won by 3 goals or more 8 times though

Late goals played a key part in both our 2nd place league finishes - we've had barely any this year

Pace and power will always get you more league goals than patient passing, in my opinion.

pace, power, and public praise of our promising players will power us to a position of prominence. probably.

Yeah, most of our goals come from quick attacks.

Spurs have the winning mentality that we haven't had since 2009.

People forget they were the 4th best team last season, so had no reason to feel the pressure this time round. They have done it twice in three years.

Yeah they slipped below Arsenal last year but that is because Harry never rotated. AVB is not that daft, so they won't crumble in the last 10 games this time.

They are not miles better than us, but their young players have that little bit more experience than ours, and they have a couple more players who score goals in big moments.

We will reach their level, but it might take another two years.

I disagree but respect that view

The table might say 12 points but a few late goals for them and a few freak results for us could have been very different.

We played thm off the park at WHL earlier in the season and somehow managed to lose. So as far as ability goes, we're not behind. We are behind when it comes to punishing teams.

Have to agree with this.

It's not a freak result Metro if it keeps on happening.

Spurs are ahead of us for a reason, they are better than us.

We played them off the park at WHL, and lost.

That is the difference.

Reds just embarrass themselves with their steadfast refusal to accept Spurs are better than us at the moment.

who refused to accept it. I merely disagreed with the 2 years behind comment.

and yes... freak results. It's not our fault Suarez goal vs Everton was chalked off. Aguero scored a 1 in a 100 shot a few weeks back. There's 4 points already. Skrtel backpass early in season etc.

I know its all if and buts but my point is that these little blips could easily have been avoided and the12 point gap suddenly becomes 3.

we're talking 3-4 games here that could have went either way.

Every team has these three or four games where small margins cost them, not only us. Spurs are a better team this season, that's clear. But next year is our year....

This.

Every team can point to this or that happening.

Spurs conceded a few late goals early season. If they hasn't, they would be 2nd.

But they did.

Blaming things on 'freak occurrences' is just delusion I am afraid, as every team has games they could have won but didn't.

posted on 26/2/13

Simply Spurs have a better team. The reason they're able to win games, come back from the brink in games and to play well consistently is because their team works. We have a flaw in the team or at least we did until January. It is getting there but we're behind them, that much is true.

posted on 26/2/13

Spurs have had a better team for most of the season, with the introduction of Sturridge and Countiho and the revival of Henderson etc its not so clear cut.

Next year is our year then.

I'm not 'blaming' anything.

I'm saying that these things could quite easily have been avoided.

The general concensus on this board was that it was a miracle we only picked up 2 from 9 vs Arsenal, City and Brom given the level of performances.

I don't buy the 'all teams have their bad luck and it evens out' business

But we can agree to disagree. I certainly don't see a 2 year gap

I didn't say it evened out.

Every team has their own hard luck story though.
