I said at the time I wanted to keep Martinez because his performances in the short time frame between the Brighton game and FA Cup final were better than anything I'd ever seen from Leno.

However, I understood why we sold him (even if I didn't like it), especially as he was pushing to move as we couldn't 100% guarantee him a starting berth. I also didn't think the gap between him and Leno was that big.

But I think time has proven that, whilst Leno is a decent goalkeeper, we had a real gem in Emi Martinez, who exuded authority, confidence and leadership. It was a poor decision to let him leave.

The only major thing that annoyed me about Emi since leaving were all those interviews whining about not being given a chance at Arsenal. Like saying it once is fine, but doing it multiple times on separate occasions throughout the season was too much.

You don't have to make excuses Samir. You sell Pan from a corner shop in Green street. You're not paid to make big decisions.

Artitler is and he got it horribly wrong despite plenty of indicators showing how average Leno was and how well Martinez would do.

Villa fans are getting way too rowdy. Need them to lose Grealish and hopefully Emi gets a move to a bigger club and then their egos will be taken down a notch.

I'm seeing these guys say they'll be getting CL places in the next couple years
