Partey was not £45m now. So the write down is far lower. KSE aren't that bothered looking at the amounts they are investing these days.
If anything this makes the issue of FFP a little easier. Whats Partey on? £200k a week?
But we still spent the money and might not get full value for it in end end. I also think they'd still be pretty bothered at spending large amounts, they've just put a new plan into place where the profile of players they're getting offer long terms of service and high resale value, both of which we would lose here.
cant wait for next season to end
Tbag its only if you believe that Arsenal are buying younger players to sell them at a higher price. Nothing I have seen makes me believe that is their reason for doing that. I think its simply to construct a winning team. That grows together into a winning culture.
As for Partey, he is not one of those. He is 29. And with a spotty injury record with us so his resale value is not an issue. In fact the wages we save will more productive for the team at the moment. I think the same for Xhala btw.
If it does turn out to be Partey, he has to go down as an absolute disaster of a signing. Maybe one of the worst in our history considering the expectations we had of him, his injury record, inconsistency and the outlay we forked out for him in both wages and transfer fee.
so much for "seeing the light"
I’ve never rated Partey anyway.
Didn’t understand why everyone was so excited by his signing. He never struck me as a blue chip player.
Shame that we’ve lost a player who we could have sold for 20m plus.

Well that's cos we're only like a year or two into the process. I think ideally we'd buy players with the idea of keeping them here through the peaks of their careers but I would very much imagine that being able to turn a profit on a player if they want to leave and make ourselves more self sufficient in the long run would be part of the thinking going forward.

KSE have just won the Super bowl and the Stanley Cup. They don't look like a company intent on saving money. If anything I think they want Arsenal to be as successful. We have been calling on them to spend and when they do why look at it with suspicion?
I'm not suspicious, I just don't think they'd have gone from insanely frugal to recklessly spending. I imagine they've looked at a team like Liverpool and seen how spending money on the right profile of players can bring you success while not having to spend huge amounts in the long term.
