Yes

Since Giroud we spent 180M on Pepe, laca and Auba

For me the arsenal Giroud was better than all 3 and even the current Giroud is better

Was a mistake in hindsight

Arsenal fans hated Giroud and drove him out

There was a lot of hate for Giroud. More so because of him being a "target man" type of striker

For a striker, Giroud link up play is one of the best I have seen.

Him alongside jesus would have been very effective

I don't think many fans hated Giroud and plenty would have been happy to keep him as a second choice, the frustration was just that he shouldn't have been solely leading the line for a team that wanted to win things - his dry spell was proof of that.

Most normal people just wanted another body that provided a different option, but that was probably peak AFTV and pretty toxic at the time

Agree

It's funny, at the time, we wanted a complete opposite to what we have now which was a striker with pace

Issue with Giroud was that there’s no way he was good as a 1st choice striker given how poor the team was. Look how much better Jesus is for example. As a back up, there’s no question Giroud was amazing. Good on him to match Henry’s record.

At times, I did give Giroud a lot of stick - and it was largely warranted - but ultimately, Wenger was the one who kept starting him every week and Wenger was the one who chose to not get an upgrade on him earlier. So the blame mainly lay with Wenger.

I was perfectly happy with him as a backup/plan b striker, but he obviously wasn't content with that role and with the WC that was approaching in 2018, I get why he wanted out.

In hindsight, we would have fared much better (and probably won more) with Auba and Giroud as our two strikers, as opposed to Auba and Laca. The latter of whom ended up being a waste of money.

Giroud was involved in some of our loveliest goals too
