That goal started from Raya being out of position
Arteta encourages players to do that, though. So at times GK will run out trying to take command. Lehmann always did that. But the CBs need to keep cool. It shouldn't have caused any panic because there was no one near Gabriel. He had so much time to just clear it.
Raya thought he could get to it and clear it, perhaps a slight positional mistake by him but not fully on him after that, defender has a chance to put his foot through it, doesnt and tries to pass it, slightly bad pass and no control from the next guy, ball stolen and 2 quick passes and goal.
It was one of those unfortunate incidents that if all the players involved had to do again would likely do it differently?
When the GK is out of goal, the CB needs to keep possession or put it in row Z to buy him time to get back. Or you get goals like Bruno vs Liverpool or what happened.

Gabriel had one of those games that come from inexperience. Just way too overhyped. Gave away the first goal from the weak part of the game and spent the rest trying too hard. Lucky with the pen.
Saka was the only player who looked like he belonged. There is a serious lack of confidence that comes from not being there before.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Their first goal was more on Kiwior than Gabriel.
It was a reachable pass from Gabriel to Kiwi. His decision making to run to the ball was too slow and Sane got infront of him.
What I will say is that Gabriel didnt need to do the pass. Clear the ball and nothing happened.
Collective jitters yesterday. How long did it take Pep/City to get over their hump? This is our first season, so a lot is forgivable. It should have been a comfortable 2-0 yesterday after we went ahead. And I think it would have been if we were a little more relaxed.
I do think we need another world-class attacker to add to Saka.
And Odegaard needs to turn up against the big boys.
Odegaard and Saka were the only players yesterday that turned up. All the other players especially Rice shown their limitation on international level.
Odegaard is irreplaceable in this Arsenal side in my view.
Odegaard gave away too many passes
Possession lost - 13
This is way too high for someone with the quality he has. Odegaard is a top top player, but I felt he was just on the edge of the game compared to taking control as he normally does!

All good things were initiated by Odegaard. He was the only who tried to press Bayern as well.
What the hell was Rice doing at Gnabry's goal. He jogged?

I agree with you that Rice was completely ineffective in the no.8 role yesterday. And we only really started dominating after Jesus came on and Rice went back to no.6.
But for the goal, Rice was caught in-between. He was coming back from n.8 to help Jorginho who everyone knows has no pace and had already completely exposed the defence by running up the pitch and couldn't get back. Rice could have tried to close down the passer or gone deeper into the pen area, but did neither.

Started with that yep which caused Gabs to panic and try a risky pass.
But overall I think as J99 says just jitters on the biggest stage. Hopefully being the underdogs away from home will help us and keep us focussed, I give us about a 40% chance of progressing.
Bayern were much better but like the opposite and what we want to do in the away leg - suited them being underdogs, those two little centre mids Goretzka and Laimer just sat in front of the defence and won everything, Sane was ridiculous and Kane just kept finding space and picking passes.
Chris, it wasnt Bayern brilliance that helped them yesterday. Arteta said that the critical moment was Ben White's miss. If that went in Bayern collapse. I am sure of it. We didnt do it and began suicide.
They shocked us with two quick goals in succession and we could recover. We havent created anything in the second half either. We were lucky because Bayern hit woodwork.
We were the right opponent yesterday to raise their game. I am bitter dissappointed about our performance.

Hmm, I thought they played well but yes a bit of luck & our mistakes as well. If Ben White takes his chance we probably go on to win by more.
Bayern should have been 3-1 up.
If bayern score the first goal next week, Sane and Gnabry are going to ruin us
We will park the bus as it will be wave after wave next week

No, there will be no wave.
But we need to start the game braver. Too many side- and back passes yesterday. Their defense was a mess and we couldnt show that. They were for the taking.

Trossard has scored 7 goals for us this season as a substitute (1 of them was in the community shield) when did we last have someone that had those sort of stats for us as a sub?

Yeah very useful player.
Jesus was great off the bench also, id start him ahead of havertz, seems more like his opposition
Isn't gnabry banned for the next leg?
