In the new champions league format, how many points needed to get into 1-8 position?


"The new UEFA Champions League format, which starts in the 2024-2025 season, introduces a "Swiss system" format. The top 8 teams after these 8 matches will automatically qualify for the Round of 16.

Ideal Point Range: If a team wins most of their matches, they could secure a spot in the top 8. In the traditional group stage, 12-15 points usually guarantee a top spot. Since teams play 8 matches in the new format, accumulating around 16-20 points (5-6 wins and a couple of draws) should be a safe target to finish in the top 8.

Minimum Points: Considering the competitive nature, a team might scrape into the top 8 with fewer points if there are many draws and closely contested matches. Around 13-15 points could be the lower threshold to secure a place in the top 8.
