Arsenal looked like the team that finished second for the last two years in the second half. Work out what was different (for those who actually saw the game).

If Chelsea are smart, just need to sit back, defend in numbers and play us on the break

It will be their easiest game all season

Don't remember us putting in 46 crosses (stoke style) last season

The easy answer is Odegaard wasn't injured last season. So teams weren't able to put 3 players on Saka and call it a day. At the moment, teams are playing 2 defenders wide and one defensive midfield player on Saka's inside so he can cut across to shoot or play an inside pass to Marti. All he can do is cross.

And we were crossing more last season, but Havertz was able to use that. Arteta finally went 4-1-4-1 in the second half, but to do that he dropped Havertz deeper and Jesus is useless in the air.

That would be the best szenario for us.

I expect them to do totally different and that will really hurt us.

The return of Odegaard wont solve our current problem I fear.

We lost completely our fluidity. We are easy to defend because our whole left side and players who are current play there are out of form and can´t hit a barndoor.

Arsenal play the best using 4-1-4-1. Arsenal don't have the players to counter-attack.

You can't produce 40 crosses and 18 shots in the second half against one of the best teams in Europe without fluidity.

Arteta has collected players to play in a very strict system. However he has played 4-4-2 while Odegaard has been out. How do you expect that to be fluid?

The only hope v chelsea is that their defence are prone to making errors but again, how many clear cut chances are we actually going to create?

Arsenal produced clear cut chances in the second half. The players weren't clinical enough to take them.

Ironically, if Arsenal had started 4-1-4-1 with Jesus as no.9 and Havertz in no.8, Arteta could have subbed in Trossard for Martinelli second half to take advantage of his clinical finishing.

Instead, Arteta has been playing Trossard in a position he is not good at for the last two months instead of using Ethan. Thats a terrible error.

Which clear cut chances?

The Havertz block was the only half decent chance

posted 1 day, 9 hours ago

Chelsea are suspect to crosses and set pieces and are not that physical so the stoke style could actually work v them.

We had what 13 or 14 corners yesterday and 46 crosses

Havertz missed two.

Arsenal had 11 shots inside the box second half. But shooting accuracy was only 15%. A top clinical team has shooting accuracy around 30%.

Dont fooled by stats. We created absolutely nothing that was clear cut

Inter blocked 7 shots in the second half. Again, a more clinical team does not allow that to happen.

This is why I still wanted a clinical striker last summer and was desperate for Osimhen.

Havertz could have then played in midfield at times with a proper striker leading the line.

"The teams from the north of England are terrible," Baptista said. "When we play them I have counted their centre-backs booting up to 30 long balls upfield per game.

"The moment you stop to think, someone has taken the ball off you and knocked you to the ground.

"Over here they value a corner kick more than a fancy flick. I am lucky to be with Arsenal, as they are a team that likes to play proper football."

You can lose games, especially against good teams but when the football is dire, turgid and awful to watch, questions have to be asked.

Our brand of football, this season, has to be one of the worst in the prem.
