Thats a fair point Lex. But Arteta has not rotated last season either. There definitely been a change during the International break. I suspect both Marti and Partey will start against utd.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
For sure, both are almost certain to start next Wednesday.
And that just shows how much more depth in quality we have at the moment, compared with last season, and up to recently this.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But its not up front. tbh I think we are weaker. ESR/Vieira were more experinced backups to Ode or wide. Nelson was a equal pace back up to Marti.

I really think Timber is brilliant. Just got everything and can basically play anywhere. Throwback to Ajax academy products of years ago
Calafiori, I'm not sure. Clearly got the attributes but feel like its 2-3 mistakes a game. Hopefully an adjustment process is all
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How many games has Calafiori played? We are usualy making excuses abt settling in to Pep type teams coming from another team in the same league. This guy is from another country who has to adjust to a completely new culture. I think he is lucky to an extent that he is coming to London where we have so many Italians! And he is already a fixture!

Think it’s more a numbers thing, that made it seem like we had more depth than we did.
In truth, ESR barely played - even when we all thought he should. No-one really called for Vieira to start matches last season. And Nelson played so infrequently, when he did get minutes he looked more scared about making a mistake defensively than creating anything going forward.
Still feel we pulled the plug on ESR too early, but happy to see minutes Vieira might have been given this season going to Nwaneri instead.

But thats the chicken and egg arguement lex. One reason why the squad didn't look all that good even before the International break was because players were being asked to come in cold and then looking poor. Couldn't we say the same thing abt ESR/Vieira/Nelson. Especially for developing players? Ethan and MLS have played much more and look better younger! Some of it cause they are great talents but they are also coming in more naive than Vieira/ESR!

Cali has been solid imo. Yes a few mistakes here & there but more positives. He can slot well in the middle in the build up. Even when he’s making errors, he’s not worse than Kiwi or Zinny. Tomi being out means he’s played more than he probably would’ve.
Timber is the real deal though, defensively as good as Sagna was and attacking wise, when was the last great full back we had?

On bringing our substitutes into the dressing room at the break…
Very important, we had an issue with Gabi, we have an issue with Ricky as well, yesterday we lost Thomas and Mikel and Myles which was very bad news but what I'm really happy about is Jakub has to come in, he does really well. Alex the same, Jorginho, I thought he was exceptional today as well. That’s the level, every three days we’re going to need everybody at their best and it’s a good sign that the team can do that.
So Myles-Skelly is injured
On Riccardo Calafiori coming off…
Well, he's been with little niggles in the last few weeks. Obviously he had a very serious knee injury and he's doing really well, but we have to manage his minutes and today we have to do the same.
