carrick offers nothing. is slow, doesnt actually have any end product. hardly tackles. but can play balls out to wingers so WOW

And then those wingers have much time and space to run at the defence.

Rather than Arteta, who would play a pass to Ramsey or a fullback, who would then bring it forward taking about 3x as long.

The answer is, I think their both at a similar level.

Arteta is much better at keeping the ball and retaining possesion, which suits our style of play whereas Carrick is better at creating attacks through longer passing which suits Uniteds direct style of play.

Defensively, Carrick probably edges it, as well as in the air.

Carrick has won shiiit loads and has always played a key part. Even Fergie said Carrick was the first name on his sheet.

To be fair to Arteta, I wouldn't swap him for Carrick. Wouldn't suit us at all.
