£14,000 a night or £98,000 a week, though there may be a discount for cash.

Look at the saint Beckham fan protect thing the image of the multi millionaire footballer.

There are sheep and there are Beckham sheep.

He's paid more to pr experts in a year than your house costs.

Love all these brand Beckham puppets.

In defence of Beckham most of the charities that have celeb backing WANT the publicity. Its the reason they go for celeb patronage a combination of money atrscts money and no bad publicity (unless your name is Saville).
I dont care who he used to play for or how much publicity the Becks get personally. If others benifit as well definately no problem.

Yeah but he didnt name the charity did he, only his donation.

Self serving publicity hungry tewat.

The donation was welcome but the press conference performance and the news he was getting a bundle of cash in other ways just grates on me.

Pr plain an simple.

Abstinence has been a problem for him too, or was that faithfulness.

when becks was a UTD player he had a charity helping disabled kids. I had dealings with it as I have a disabled kid. Although I never recieved money from him.

Him and posh used to turn up for 5/10 mins with the proviso that the video made would make it seem like they had spent hours there

The charity employed their relatives and was basically a tax dodge thing. On leaving UTD the charity was shut down virtually overnight leaving people wanting and some had been given the go ahead and so had been turned down by others and ended up with nowt.

dont let these gestures fool you

Lets be clear, I am not pro Beckham but anti those creatures Paulpowersleftfoot and Borisinky"gibson who sit in moral judgment of everybody behind the anonymity of a pen name, and in Boris's case with made up figures.
I would feel the same whoever DB played for, even a city player. He has done no harm and has done some good, that should be enough to prevent the malicious comments (plus swearing of course) of people such as these.
Beckham was a good, but not great footballer for my team, and now he is making the most of his talents and looks, as we all would, and giving a little on the way, whats so bad about that.
If you look at all ,not many, previous articles they are all about the football, which has given me great joy for many years. Now when I see the boards I am tired of seeing spiteful men spouting out their sham morality.

......and in Boris's case with made up figures.

I gave you a link to the BBC business website, will you continue to be in denial until I get you a signed statement from 'Becham' himself?

Borris provided a link to figures so he's made up nothing.

We are just not swayed by pr stunts and stand in adulation of a multimillionaire footballer who's out to improve his brand.

Sheep following a star.

Agree with the OP.

This topic has been done to death, but to me, the most relevant point is that people's criticism of Beckham always centres around something that people can't possibly know - his intention.

When you start assuming someone's intention, you're effectively guessing.

It's sad that people jump to the worst possible conclusion, but that will always be the case - particularly in a world inhabited by the 'moral guardians' that prowl online forums.

As I've said before - it says more about the person coming to that conclusion than it does about Beckham.

Sorry you cant see through becham for what he is op and using a childrens charity as a publicity stunt is shameful

PPLF the creature

Sorry Boris, didn't see the link, still can't actually, but quite happy to believe you. So two very different takes on the same story and completely different figures then, ah well, the media are worse than posters. Still think he has done more good than bad though and there are plenty of more deserving targets.

Anyway back to footie, whats our chances against Real do you think, I think we have a chance but don't think we would beat Bayern if we met them in the next round, or Milan.

See through it?

Please, spare us the idea that you are the all seeing, all knowing guy that knows Beckham's intentions better than anyone else.

You're just another guesser, who has jumped to the worst possible assumption... and who just happens to be a City fan.

Coincidence? I think not.

I've been part of these discussions before. Does it matter whether it is self serving, a tax dodge, or whether he is just being a nice guy? £3m is going to charity, which regardless of whatever percentage of his income it it, is a large amount. If it furthers his publicity, what is the problem? He gives money to other charities, perhaps if this earns him more money, some more of that will find its way to helping people.

Whether he is being selfish, or selfless is irrelevant to be honest. If giving money away is his idea of being selfish and a pr stunt, long may it continue. I'm under no illusion that he is a saint or anything of the kind, but he actually does a lot of good that is overlooked.

Winston i think you are a fannee, now that may be an assumption on my part but some assumptions are nearer the mark than others, as in this case. Of course i may be "just another guesser" but in this instance i think i may have jumped to the best possible assumption

People seem to think he's signing a cheque for £3m and handing it over to orphaned puppies or something equally cheesy, he's not.

BluePhoenix (U1189)

Oh well if you think that then it's okay then - that means it must be credible.

There's nothing credible to back up what you're saying, which makes the assumption crass.

If Beckham wanted to use charitable donations as a PR stunt, why hasn't he done so before now?

I feel sorry for people that automatically think the worst of other people. It doesn't say much for your life.

No, but by the end of his contract with PSG in around 5 more months, £3m that would have gone to him (and then been taxed on) is going to charity instead. Regardless of his motives it is still a decent thing to do as a human being.
