IMO - It is a news filler story I imagine based on a response from Jones to a run of the mill question.

In much the same way players have speculation bandied about when it comes to renewal of contracts.

There is a dearth of news at the moment. Jones is hardly likely to want to give him the elbow now is he? That would be the equivalent of a man eating his own head.

The big question should be focussed on whether Jones is going to stay.
