ben arfa no. injury prone and newcastle would mug us off again

People seem to think Newcastle are threatening side.
Look at where they are. Look at what results they've conjured up.
I'd be very surprised if Ben Arfa stays. Hopefully he does decided to leave and let Rogers have a word with him.
Arsenal have Theo. spurs have Lennon.
Can't see why you can't?

Downing never gets injured, he's been playing very well indeed and you want to replace him with someone is always injured in arfa?

No thanks!!!!!

Yes but at least in the big games Ben Arfa will actually take on the left back and not go into his shell like downing has. Big game= Liverpool's problem 12/13 season.

Can't see Arfa being our signing. And Turan? He doesn't exist.

I would rather see us go in for another out and put striker.

A striker and a CB are bigger priorities for me. Downing's versatility makes him useful so I wouldn't be in a hurry to see him sold.

Winger is not a priority.

Skrtel and Coates could both leave. Jamie Carragher is retiring. We need to buy a new CB before anything.

Downing would be a good squad player.

The trouble is I bet he is on first team wages, so he won't be value for money.

If we can sell him for £8-10m and replace him with a squad player of similar quality and lower wages, then it has to be worthwhile for the squad as a whole.

At 28 his value is only going to go down from now.

Downing has turned his Liverpool career around in my opinion, as has Henderson.
Assaidi will be the one moved on as for some reason, he just doesn't get a game.
Ajax rate him so we can hopefully get a decent fee for him and then get someone like Ben arfa in.

CB is a priority, I still hold out hope for Kelly though maybe not 1st choice but if Skertl were to go along with Carra's retirement then I think 1 replacement, for the first team, plus Kelly would do me.

Downing, well he's been a huge improvement on last year but still I'm not convinced. Would he get a sniff of first team action for Utd, City, Chelsea, Spurs, Arsenal? I have my doubts and that for me is the answer - good and honest but just not good enough.

When Kelly is fit he deserves a chance to make the CB slot his own, it could be make or break for him next season.

We certainly need CB cover although I do think Kelly and Wisdom look to have the natural attributes to play there. A striker is a must. Borini, hasn't ticked the boxes and has been injured a lot, plus he has been played predominantly as a wide player We need another decent option I feel to add cover/competition for Sturridge and Suarez,

Centre back is a priority. Carragher is going, Coates' chances have been limited and Skrtel could be off.

We also need another striker, one who can offer us something different. Personally I'd love Carroll back but it looks like he will be sold, so Benteke would be a great signing.

Cover for Lucas is a must also. I think we're fine for the wide roles.

I know he scored yesterday but we can be so much better with a more dynamic inside right forward that scores and creates goals regularly. Maybe Ince can be that player and he won't cost as much with only 1 year left in summer.

I'd go for Ben Arfa. Our medical staff should improve his medical.

For the money Ben Arfa would cost we could do better than him.

He doesn't work hard enough to be in our team.

"I have to say Hatem's conditioning has disappointed me this week, and we will be working hard in the next few days to get him up to speed because he lacks a bit of fitness, for sure," said Pardew. "I just think it's something we need to push him on at. His upper body strength is there, but we want to work on his general fitness. I think that needs to improve."

That was Pardew a few days ago.

You need to be a hard worker to get in our team.

That is not Ben Arfa.

Ben Arfa just came back from injury, don't think it's got anything to do with working hard..

Ben Arfa is a physio's worst nightmare. Would not be worth the money paid.

posted on 3/3/13

Conditioning is down to hard work.

He is talented but is 25 and has done nothing in his career to date, other than flatter to deceive and get injured a lot.

I don't believe we want him at all.

I think his agent is looking for a new deal more likely, as he only has 2 years left on his Newcastle deal.

posted on 3/3/13

He is actually 26 in a few days, so it's even worse.

Made his debut at 17 but has only managed 200 odd games in 9 years.

Steer clear.

He would be another Aquilani.

i think we should keep downing. we should look to have someone to play in front of him on the right side but we need some depth. i think downing has proven that he can at least do a job when we need him.

as for ben arfa. the guy can be a top player but so far he hasn't shown what he's capable of on a consistent basis.

i think if he had the right manager who shows belief in him and gives him the confidence to go and show people how good he is then he could be sensational.

reminds me very much of sturridge in that sense. maybe rodgers is that manager?

one thing i will say is. we need players who will stand up and be counted when the going gets tough. we can't have too many players who need a love-in from the manager all the time

Downing could be a good enough squad player, if he continues to learn the wingback/fullback role aswell as he can play both wings. Our squad is thin and we have been getting rid of the same number of players we bring in sometimes even more. I think in the summer we will be losing Carroll and Carra possibly Downing or Skrtel depending if decent bids come in. For me we need 3 players minimum on top of making sure we replace who we lose, even spending what we get back from Carroll on a striker.

Although i hope Assaidi features more next season i still think we need 1 or 2 more players with attacking flair a striker and another attacking mid like Coutinho.

Then obviously we need cover at DM and 1 or 2 CBs and to replace who ever leaves even if only your soto kyriagos 2m type players we need some more numbers preferably experienced.
