That was never a debate. I just get the impression interacting with many United fans that they see the club's success as some extension of the personal achievement, hence their cringeworthy arrogance.

I have a younger brother, who while growing up saw United's success with Cantona, Becks, Giggs, etc and decided to be a United fan. He's never been to Old trafford or even Manchester but he went to Highbury and has been to the Emirates numerous times

And i understand why he supports them, it was an easy choice

That maybe the case with him and many others, i was born in manchester had a season ticket from being young but due to work which takes me round the country i no longer have one, i'm in Hereford at the moment when i can i travel to utd but its rare, i've seen Hereford play more than utd this last year.
