Unlucky, extremely unlucky. As I say, every single one of our players played their part. MotM for me has to be Welbeck though, thought he was outstanding, apart from his finishing. I think people who want him sold and what not are completely nuts. Only RvP seemed to be slightly off the standards set by his early season form.

no, unlucky to have the misfortune of being refereed by a moron

I really like Welbeck, he has everything to be brilliant but his finishing. He really should have had a goal last night after that Vidic header and his shot from Van Persies rebounded shot was a weak effort. If he learns to finish he'll be great.

two flaws in that.

the first is from vidic's header Welbeck was actually off side so it wouldnt have counted.

number 2, is rather than getting on his case, give the real keeper some credit for the pretty decent save he made with the second.

Was the Welbeck chance given offside? I don't think there is any doubt his finishing is way below par.

Man Utd supporter would say yellow card, any other team supporter would say red card, that’s the fickleness of supporters. In reality it was harsh with the other player running in on the blind side of Nani. There is a pattern of strange decisions against English teams whether it is penalty claims, offsides, yellow or red cards and even goals. I don't think Blatter and Co want an English team to win the CL they love the German and Spanish leagues. I don't think the refs are told to do anything untoward, but I’m sure they understand the mindset of their paymasters.

Nani has started 11 games this season.

Of United's 7 losses this season, he has started in 4 of them. The other 3 he was injured for.

He also featured in 1 of our 2 draws in the league.

Unlucky or a reason? I'd say unlucky.

Valencia has been awful but for me, a few glimpses aside, Nani has been no better.

Unlucky.

Everyone watching was surprised. All this 'had to be a red' is post-fact rationalising on the part of people who were glad it was a red. (We've all been guilty of that when bad decisions have gone in our favour.)

Yup RedRussian!

Funny how these people saying it was red are the ones who defended Carragher for his assault on Nani etc etc!

No, since his injury he been playing very well in every single game. Valencia has not had even one good game! nani should start ahead of valencia easily and if it was not for nani we would not have scored yesterday. bad decision whilst he and the team was playing well.

Nolhman I didn't say Valencia was better than Nani. I just think neither has done anything to claim a place in the United team this season and the fact that Nani has started in 4 of our 7 losses (and injured for the other 3) may be seen by the boss as more than just a stat.

Personally I think none of our wingers are good enough to be first choice right now. If Nani was as good as people say he is, he'd be picked on the left over the likes of Young, Wellbeck, Kagawa and Rooney.

what do you mean by if he was good as people say he is? have you watched united the few times he has played since returning from injury? the reason the likes of valencia get picked over him is simply a mystery only SAF can answer to but i think picking him yesterday ahead of all you mentioned after his current performances shows he his as good as people say he is.

But we have won practically all of the games that Valencia has featured in over Nani!

I'm not saying Nani isn't a good player. He's inconsistent but he is our only winger that can play both flanks and to a decent standard.

So why have players like Kagawa, Cleverley, Wellbeck and Rooney who are not natural wingers been picked over Nani on the left?

It's a mystery to me too but we have to remember that we have won most of the games Valencia has featured over Nani. I know that's not down to Valencia as he's been awful and can't remember the last assist he supplied but I don't recall Nani playing well consistently either. He created a goal against QPR but Rangers were awful that day.

Last night Nani was excellent though.
