He is not the new Heskey, but definetly the new Mark Hughes

Didn't Emile Heskey win more than Spurs have done for over 20 years?

Stretty is correct, a player like Heskey who's got the upper build of a solid brick wall and the first touch of a disabled rhino has won more than Spurs in the last 20 years

With all due respect Thudd, players like Wellbeck and Heskey have more to their game than just goals.

I would never just look at some stats and just assume the quality of a player and his value to his team. You have no context to those statistics.

If Wellbeck had of scored 15 goals this season then United would have won the league by now

He works hard, so did Heskey

I'm not sure Spurs fans are in any position to criticise Man United's 4th choice striker, given they retain Adebayor as one of their top 2 strikers

Let's be realistic, Defoe would be our 4th choice striker behind RVP, Rooney and Hernandez. However, Defoe would still get less games than Welbeck because Defoe is too limited and one dimensional to adapt to other positions.

4th choice?

He's played more games than Hernandez (25 games, 15 goals)

And more than Rooney (27 games, 14 goals)

Yes, on the wing... but we are talking about the position of striker dummy

When it comes to starting games as a striker/forward, Welbeck has been 4th choice.

Then my STATS are limited to games and goals, I have no idea how many games he's played as striker

Stats can be misleading.

If we put our faith solely in stats then once upon a time Kevin Phillips was the best striker in Europe

United have struggled for goals this season, if only Danny was more clinical we'd be in with a shot at some silverware

I do like Wellbeck, and he's a hard worker, strong, and with goals he could be amazing! just missing that final product
