He's got no one covering his back. If he makes a mistake, it's often expensive. He was poor for Blues first goal on Saturday. He's no Barker, but he was a decent replacement for Shackell
I don't blame Keogh for the defensive errors. He's practically had to do the job on his own since the beginning of the season. The problem lies in the position next to him. Too many changes and players not up to the mark. Buxton's a trier and will give 100% every game but he's not good enough for 90 minutes at this level. He's alright with the ball coming straight at him but as soon as a player faces him up or goes to the side of him he's done for. As well as that he can't stay fit. Same goes for O'Brien although fitness is more of an issue with him. As for the rest of his partners? Too many square pegs in round holes.
I feel sorry for Keogh. You can see the frustration in him now on the pitch with every stupid soft goal we concede.
The blame for all of this lies further up the food chain, Junior or GSE, take your pick.
the problem our defence has had, since Billy Davies left, is a complete lack of organisation. When our defenders do something well, for example a tackle or block, it's instinctive and natural, but when it comes to the things the come with training/coaching and defensive teamwork, we always look in disarray and panicky.
I've always wanted a strictly defensive coach bringing in, and had hoped when Craig Short came to Derby that he would be involved, but seemingly not.
Keogh will look bad as everything he does is done on instinct.
Problem is that our defense has always looked patched up under Clough. He seems to find a need to put players out of position all the time, to add to that for his effort Buxton just isnt good enough. In fairness to Keogh he has a battle most games before we even kick off. Maybe if he had shackell beside him we might be okay.
I thought you spent the match watching Sammon like a hawk..?
666... I did, and he was carp too...
He even scuffed his goal against Cardiff.
Maybe the stick im giving Keogh is a little unfair... I would still rather have had Shackell any day of the week though.
Danny Collins is better than him.
Greg Halford is better than him.
Elliott Ward is better than him.
Sam Hutchinson is better than him.
Jamaal Lascelles is better than him.
Hope this answers your question
Jesus spotty, haven't you got gainful employment or something, or have you been suspended from school?
He went to school? My word, our education system is in a bigger mess than I thought.
Coming back to the original comments..................
We have been playing all season with one hand tied behind our backs. I can understand why Shackell was sold and replaced with Keogh - a better captain and willing to go where it hurts - but the problem of Barker's absence for the whole season needed properly addressing. Instead of an experienced CB to work as an instinctive unit with Keogh he has had a series of partners who have often been unfit and always needed directives. He has covered for them and coached but has had no-one to instinctively cover for hm when needed
We have asked too much of him - but he has accepted the load cheerfully and carried the defence. This problem could have again been addressed in January. It will persist next season because Barker will not be fit for some months. It has cost us a lot of points.
Then there is the problem of lack of height at the back ........................... .
He went to school? My word, our education system is in a bigger mess than I thought.

got a few friends who are Coventry fans and were glad to see the back of him.
what was said at the time we signed him is that he can look the part for long periods of games, but often goes missing when it matters and crumbles under pressure, tending to panic like the much younger players and shirking responsibility rather than instilling confidence in the team around him and taking games by the scruff. At the same time he rarely actually looks at fault.
I think we've seen this on set pieces, our inability to organize things, and players seemingly not taking responsibility.
Some of the harsher views I've heard actually believe he played a big part in their relegation and claim they're not missing him at all.
The problem is combined with an all-heart, no real skill player like Buxton you end up with a not-so-solid defence, prone to being drawn out and exposed.
