I'd rather have Rosicky in his prime. Proven in the PL and at least as good.

If he can play like that against top opposition then he could be Like A New Signing. I'd really like to see him have a bit of a renaissance, his experience and ability could be a real bonus considering most of us have written him off.

However the cynic in me has a nagging feeling that all Rosicky proved yesterday was that he could have a promising career in the MLS for the twilight of his career.

he had a good game in the tournament but it was against light weight opposition, we shall see, i hope so but not to optimistic.

Arshavin turned 30 in may

Rosicky was strutting his stuff against a 16 year old side full of washed up ex pro's and rooney's brother

I think he'd benefit from not playing as a sub feeding Bendtner. Lets be honest, Bendtner isn't known for his movement. Rosicky, Gervinho and Walcott could be lethal together.

Whoopsie, my bad THAT...WAS A GOAL.
I know, but the fact he was strutting his stuff at all, rather than just putting in a strong and safe performance, might be telling.

rosicky and arshavin have class but no way are they world class and never have been. kind of devalues the word

8bithero, I disagree strongly. Between 2006-08 Rosicky was World Class. Arshavin was World Class in 2008, but I don't know much of his previous form.

that depends on your definition of world class. if you're saying they are then you're saying there's about 10/15 players in each position that are world class... which kind of dilutes the meaning of the term. unless you're saying they were ever at messi/ronaldo level.

I think Rosicky still has the innate class and ability for a swansong renaissance. I defended him until last season by which stage you had to admit he seemed to have lost it.

Of all the cast-offs, he's the one I'd truly wouldn't want to lose. And unlike Arshavin, he occasionally works for the team too.

Messi and Ronaldo are special players, who have reached the level that are currently at in the last few years. It's like comparing every player to Maradona before saying they can have been World Class in their time.
At that time Rosicky was in the top 6 or so. After all, on FIFA 08 he's in the World XI.

I understand what you mean but think about how many people play football at a professional level around the world. Having 10 or 15 world class players in each position is still a miniscule percentage of that amount so it's not unfeasible to have that many world class players in each position.

That's an understatement! I've more mobility and I'm at home off work after doing my back in- hence, being able to spend some time on JA606 (excellent replacement site for 606 btw).

What's a "clutch player"?

so being nominated for the ballon d'or and finishing 6th isn't world class?

He had a good pre season last season and contributed next to nothing afterwards. I'd love to be proved wrong but I really think we should get rid.

N1, a clutch player is one who will step up when it most matters. Think Iniesta, Zidane, Messi, Arshavin. Players who aren't clutch really include the likes of Vela. Who is actually the exception that proves the rule really.

Deco, Owen, Suker, Litmanen, Beckham and Mijatovic have all finished in the top 3 for Ballon D'ors and have never been world class.

If anything I'm more confused after the explanation.

Basically a player that doesn't choke.

I disagree. All those players were world class at one point or another. For me a world class player is somebody who would walk into 95% of top teams
