I said they are world class JJG. I was the one making the point that they don't have to be Pele, Maradona, Cruyff or Messi to be World Class.

To be world class you have to do it season after season at the highest level

and Andy Roddick was never a world class tennis player because he only won one grand slam

glad we've cleared that up, your knowledge of sport is astounding

Rosicky has never been world class, but he hasn't lived up to the promise he showed in 2006 WC.

Obviously injuries played a part but he's just one in a list of players recently that haven't lived up to potential - Reyes, Diaby, Hleb, Walcott, Djourou, Vela, Arshavin and probably a few others I can't think of right now.

My bad, I misunderstood. As you were.

Where did he say this anywhere?

exactly. Saint_Totteringham seems to feel is takes a couple of decent performances on the big stage to make you world class. consistency is the best judge of quality because someone could just be in the zone and pull out great performances above their normal level for a short period of time. truly world class players can maintain that level season after season.

Saint_Totteringham

you're using examples of a player who performed in 5 games at euro 2008 and a player who has won 1 grand slam. you're telling me i know nothing when you're taking the smallest sample to judge people. judging people over a longer period obviously is more accurate and accounts for consistency which is more important.

That's really funny, given that you think your singular subjective opinion is more accurate than a panel of ballon d'or voters

well they voted him as the 6th best player in a single calender year... and you reckon that autotically makes him world class. that list of often flawed and is skewed by what their team achieves instead of the performance of an individual. zenit won the europa league and russian reache the last 4... they captures some the imagination of people and as i said... arshavin got massively hyped up

being in the top 6 of ballon d'or doesn't quality you as being world class... as batmanu showed earlier. performing at a world class level on a consistent basis makes you world class, and arshavin hasn't done that

well being judged by a panel of experts as 6th best player in the world generally means at that point he was world class yeah

your subjective opinion making a player world/not world class, hmmm, jury is out on that one im afraid

reborn schmrebon
hes just a headless chicken
just walks around the pitch looking busy but offering nothing..
what does he do that a player like say Lansbury can't.

Just cos u see a couple twists and turns that end in a final misplaced pass or a dead alley doesn't make him reborn..

I say get rid..

cos public objective opinion is always right people were judging him on 5 games in euro 2008 to judge whether he's world class or not even though the majority haven't seen any of him beforehand.

------------------------------------------------------
Sorry that's not public opinion but just you. If you don't bother to follow the other leagues doesn't mean that other people do the same.

Most people with a bit of interest for football outside the british isles remembers, prior to the Euros, how he pretty much single handedly carried Zenit to the UEFA cup trophy. The year before I think he was 25 then) he won the title in russia and got player of the season, after that a fair few clubs took notice of him including Fergie.

5 games mate?! Do me a favour

JLS are world class. They even have their own condom range. Can't think of one of their songs at the moment but I'm sure it would work as the teams walk out at The Lane. Real atmosphere building stuff. I'm off to iTunes now and, once downloaded, I'll send it to Danny (I'm sure that's his name) so he can have it ready for the Everton game. Pity it wasn't ready for the Kaizer Chiefs. Oh, now I'm getting confused...aren't they a band too? Maybe JLS aren't world class. I think I meant the Kaizer Chiefs - Danny ignore that email.

Apparently Danny isn't the announcer guy at The Lane, my friend tells me.
