The European game is currently ordered through a memorandum of understanding between clubs and Uefa that was signed three and a half years ago. It runs until 2014, and when it expires the top European clubs will no longer be legally bound to play in Uefa's Champions League or, crucially, to release their players for international friendlies or tournaments, including the World Cup.

Its an entirely WUM concept dreamed up by a spoof newspaper in france, and being categorically denied by Qatar.

the Times was had. Other papers may have jumped on the band wagon and everyone taking it seriously seems to look a bit daft.

When you say United, City, Arsenal & Chelsea are the rumoured select from England, where did this rumour come from, other than inside your head.???

From the article linked into the post? But as comments above have stated it was a non factual story to begin with. I don't understand the hostility.

The names are actually embedded into the url I can't be excused for your lack of reading and understanding skills.

Try reading the article you posted yourself crétin.

"Although the ECA has a broad constituency, representing 197 European clubs, it is the interests of nine in particular that will drive this agenda. They are Real Madrid, Milan, Liverpool, Internazionale, Manchester United, Barcelona, Arsenal, Chelsea and Rummenigge's Bayern."

That was in response to something completely different that was raised due to a possible break away if negotiations with Fifa and UEFA break down in 2014. Again please refrain from the hostility and petty name calling, much obliged.

What is it you wish to discuss? The fake Qatar super league where the mail mentioned arsenal, United, Chelsea, city? Or the article from the guardian in 2011 about a possible break away? Which was only brought up in direct response to an objection by two United fans?

... I think someone realised their mistake, these things happen from time to time.

Guys, I don't know if this has been discussed on here but the whole Qatar idea thingy has been outed as a prank and isn't happening.

It certainly has Rob even the mail have pulled the story from the site
