Apart from that, you have players like Podolski, Arteta, Walcott, Vermalen, Ramsey among others - all of whom can make the difference in a match but none of which is really a consistant performer. That's why you go from world beaters to not so hot in little time.
We need a min of 3 Players in the Summer. From my head the 3 would be:
1 - Striker - Jackson Martinez
2 - DM - Ettiene Capone
3 - GK - Wouldnt Mind Begovic or Maybe Vorm??
yesterday, in my opinion we showed that 'plan B' that we've been lacking for years. We got stuck in and defended really well at times, happy to wait for our opportunities and take them when they came, rather than trying to force them.
I really think it's a shame we didn't get that second goal just ten minutes earlier. we were good value for our lead and I think if we had a bit more time we could have taken advantage of a panicky Bayern. I genuinely think we would have done it,
It's like last year though, if the first half was ten munites longer, we'd have gotten that fourth I'm sure.
BTW Bo$$, couldn't agree more. We need a striker, DM and Goalkeeper as a minimum, however to actually look like we can be competetive I'd like to see us add a bit more depth, maybe another RB, or creative midfielder.
Jackson Martinez!!! What a season he's having!
It's amazing how Porto pluck these South Americans and make them a hit in Europe. A lot of the time, South Americans come to Europe and struggle to hit their previous heights, not at Porto. I'd imagine it'd take a lot of money to persuade Porto to let go of their Colombian goalscoring superstar hero.
Other than giving away a few fouls how did Arteta have a poor game yesterday? He broke up play well and provided some 'basic' passes to get us going forward.
Our problem seems not to be who actually plays in DM but how we use that role, there's always entirely too much space between midfield and defence.
I think Arteta was OK yesterday, he made a few silly choices such as giving sloppy fouls in silly positions away, but in my opinion Rosicky was our worst performer, however it's understandable as hes been out for so long.
Yesterday showed that Bayern were complacent and did not show up.
Arsenal took advantage !
The gap between defence and midfield is more down to mertesacker then the DM imo. Hes had a decent season but we cant use the high line effectively with him in

When i watched them last a few months ago he was talked about being better than Falcao when he was at Porto.
He has a better scoring record and he is a big unit too so i think he could handle the PL.
Porto as soo good with South American Talent. another great player wil be James Rodrigues.
The main reason for the difference in performance between Arsenal's previous matches and the Bayern game is tactics, and not inconsistency of form or players out of position etc.
Ironically, Arsenal is being criticized here and in other forums for surrendering the midfield and not showing their typical intricate midfield play. But this was why Arsenal won. Their midfielders put the emphasis on defense for once, while before they wanted to look pretty and show off their attacking skills to the detriment of the defense.
From the evidence of this match it becomes clear that the players Arsenal have are best suited to a counterattacking game from deep. Arsenal should change their tactics accordingly on a permanent basis.
No more passing the ball around in midfield, no high line etc, but sit deep, put defense first and score through swift counterattacks.
