Yep we are so inconsistent and with a rumoured £20M transfer kitty in the summer its here to stay
Yesterday's result wasn't really that much of a surprise when you take into account previous results.
Once again following an upturn in form we have slumped to a miserable defeat. We never turned up yesterday, from the off we were poor individually and collectively.
Once again when faced with a team willing to press and outwork us we struggled. Spaces appeared alarmingly in front of the back four and our defence again struggled to cope with a muscular presence up front in Lambert.
Southampton were fantastic, but we were poor. My guess is that we entered this game with the wrong mindset. Buoyed by our recent results and performances I think that the players felt that they only had to turn up to win and were punished accordingly.
There is another way to look at it. If you'd asked everyone before these four games if they'd settle for nine points out of twelve, what do you think the answer would be?
Try the half full approach guys, it's much less stressful.
We lose too many games....i think its 9 now. To me the midfield is too lightweight and we need a commanding cb. If we want to move up a level then skrtel maybe needs replacing and allen needs more physicallity.....more time in the gym.
One of the problems with Rodgers' phikosophy is that his midfields are always going to be lightweight as it is difficult to find all round midfielders these days. He needs players with lots of technique, hence Joe Allen. But these players are awful without the ball. Downing is good neither with nor without the ball and Coutinho who looks a great signing can't tackle. That leaves Gerrard to do everything.
Yesterday showed the reality of your team and squad, you can beat anyone but you can also be beaten by anyone.
I think its recognised we need a midfield enforcer like yaya, dembele, etc.
Someone who is strong, quick, can break up play effectively and pass the short ball out of midfield.
I just knew deep down that we would lose yesterday.....
We put a run together and whenthe time comes pull ahead of everton and stay with arsenal , we got stuffed
Its a mentality issue
I prefer winning 3 and scoring and lost then losing one badly
to 2 wins and 2 draws in low scoring matches
more points, more fun, more excitement
and it's progress
Are we the epitomy of inconsistency?
No, that is Arsenal.
