Caulker, out of all the defenders we have?

Rio was arguably the best England CB when he was not included in the squad, was treated awfully and quite frankly is what England deserve

I hope Rooney and Carrick pull out too.

Cleverley and Welbeck could do with a couple of games, so let them join up with the team and get games (not like anyone is challenging them for their spots in the England team).

So predictable, Roy needs to end his international career if he can't be bothered to turn up. Sends a bad message if you're being given the runaround by a 34 year old has been. Yet again United players showing contempt for the national team.

RVP always got injured on international breaks with us, he goes to United and starts pulling out of friendlies. Fergie is the leader of the illuminati, he can do what he wants.

If Rio wasnt desperate to play for England then he would have retired by now. Its not rocket science. It would appear that he has taken the sensible option that will give him the best chance of retaining his fitness and staying injury free.

his PR company has told him not to retire because it will ruin his brand. so he is playing the role of poorly treated brother of the racially abused boy who is being bullied by big bad Roy.

seriously why are fans of other clubs so bothered ?

What are you going on about? Roy had effectively retired him already.

Want us to just roll over and let someone else have a go?

Rio with a little pressure from saf did the right thing. Last week saw him play 3 games on the spin, something he's not been able to for a long, long time!

So how would Rio of retiring even affected his brand? He was already effectively retired.

I know you are just a wum 8bit, but at least try and put a bit of thought into it.

seems a pretty lame excuse in my opinion, to pull out due to a pre planned regime, why couldn't he carry on the regime he is using at United with England? Making everyone look a bit silly, and why didn't Roy and his coaching team do their research into his regime before selecting? all a bit weird

posted on 18/3/13

yes lfcbow, it would have been much better to say, "Roy are you having a laugh ? do one".
the really funny thing is, I think Rio strung them along a bit to avoid getting a ban for his push on Torres. I mean he can't have only just found out about his "pre planned regime" and as late as Saturday Fergie said Rio would be joining up with the squad.

because if he retires it looks like he is not committed. This way he knows he is too bad to get picked but can act like he still cares and play the victim. Roy called his bluff this time because he knows he would pull out and get exposed.

Rio just played 3 games in 9 days. I cant remember the last time that he did that. SAF would probably not have played him in all those games had he known that Rio would be selected for England.

During those games it is likely that Rio will have forgone some of his usual regime so that he could play all 3 games. Then, during the international break, the medical team had plenty of time to play catch up and get Rio reading for United's next match.
