It's the travel costs and the fact I lose a whole day every time I go to see us play, coupled with the fact I earn feck all that stops me from going to games week in week out

There are many others in the same boat as me.

I have had a season ticket for 11-12 years now, but this will unfortunately be my last year.

With a 2 year old and another one planned I can't really justify it anymore, I also need to work more and more and sometimes it can feel like a chore rather than a day out due to having to be somewhere right after the game or the next day (which means not having a drink as I get brutal hangovers).

I still plan to go to games next season, but it will be games that suit me rather than every week.

Hopefully Ii will not be classed as a glory hunter next season.

More to the point, how many fans actually want their team to lose?

We are all glory hunters.

Surely an actual gloryhunter is someone who is actually a glory hunter? As in switching teams and 'supporting' whoever is best at the time, If you stay loyal to your team through good and bad patches(I know that's kinda silly to say for Celtic now) then you're not a gloryhunter, match-goer or not.

People just throw the term around to feel superior and more entitled to their team than others, its quite childish really. I think the people who don't regularly watch games and can barely list all the players in the squad are not really fans because there's no passion for them.

You can be just as passionate and loving of your team and not go to matches, as people who do. Not everyone has the financial means, or accessibility to go to games often, doesn't mean they should be brandished as gloryhunters.

Again, I knew 20 odd guys who play for one of the hockey teams in Paisley and they all went yesterday as a group. They normally play on a Saturday and train during the week but they're still supporters of St Mirren.

I stay 8 miles from Celtic Park and only just missed the first goal on Saturday having left my house at 2.30pm. I'm never going to call someone a gloryhunter just because the can't make to every game, although there is a difference between can't and won't. There are plenty of reasons not to go every week; cost; work; family; living on a different island. I'm lucky enough to have a decent wage, affordable bills, no kids, live close and I'm off every weekend. I'd never look down on someone for having to prioritise things in their life as it is an expensive weekly outing, especially with kids.

Although I don't agree with your figures. It will be far more than 10k every week that is the same. We have around 35k season ticket holders.

Well I live in California and support Chelsea. I can't even tell you the exact year because I didn't even have Internet at the time and chose to support them because they were a.) blue b.) in an English league so could understand commentary c.) not red.
It was late 90's early 2000's. I'm probably an easy target for the label but they've always been my team and before that I didn't even watch football.

LA Galaxy being my local club. Can't help that.

Forgot to say I chose them while playing a football video game.

Yeah, I agree the 10k figure is a long way off, I would say 90% of the fans in the ground is are season ticket holders.

For me it's more about time than money, I end up missing too many things because my season ticket, golf team outings, stuff with the wee one....

Too many games are played on Sunday's or midweek now and that ruins the day out factor.

There are hardly any pubs near the stadium anymore, the transport link are crap, i'm sick of being treated like deadbeat that can't be trusted to have a couple of beers at the ground.

Scottish football need to become more fan friendly
(not family friendly), they need us more than we need them... It's time they realised that.

You have just described the Man United fans perfectly

When I lived in Glasgow I didn't miss many games but with me moving to to Alcatraz Jersey channel Islands last November its restricted me to what games I can go to

I was up for the St Mirren game in the cup 2 weeks agao then on to watch celtic v juve I will carry on doing this because I love the club yes I like my wee moan now and again

for me being a supporter is supporting your club both financially and in person. now i appreciate the majority of folk have to juggle between ST's, school uniforms, the mortgage etc.

thing that bugs me tho is those that don't go to games, even cherry pick the one they can afford but are the first on the scene looking for cup final tickets, european tickets etc.

my mate worked as a physio for hearts last year and the amount of people bombarding him for tickets yet most of them hadn't been to tynecastle for years

Went to my first game in February 65. Was a season ticket holder (for most of Rangers' 9 in a row ) before moving down to Tyne and Wear (work reasons) in 1996. Saturday's game was my sixth of the season - I either go with the local Supporters Club or coincide my trip with a visit "home" to see my mum, sister etc.

I have work and family commitments that prevent me going more often but I think I do pretty well. If circumstances prevented me from going at all, it wouldn't mean I love Celtic any less.

That said, the club really needs to cut prices aggressively for next season and I think they will

Well then surely they are all City fans at the moment, back to United next year, if they havn't switched back yet.

You have taken my point of context. If saturday there was to win the league, regardless of cost/weather the ground would have been full.

Ask yourself why this is? Only one explanation I'm afraid.

No because Man United are streets ahead in the League

Celtic's results do not matter greatly to the context of our season and for this reason the supporters who follow Celtic from outwith our area will be more reluctant to spend on travelling costs. All big clubs have fans from outwith their area, Man Utd will have fans in London; Celtic and Rangers have fans all over Scotland; Madrid and Barca' have fans all over Spain.

Saturday was great, but could you imagine the reaction if we had scored in the dying seconds to win 4-3 and put ourselves top of the league?

I couldn't care if other fans think i'm a glory hunter. I supported my team through the barren nineties when almost all of my mates were gers fans rubbing it in my face. As a kid in primary school it would have been way to switch allegiances but that was never an option to me, I loved Celtic as much then as I do now.

That's why it annoys me when people ask who my English team are.. I don't have another Feckin team. Celtic are the only team for me

If I can only make it to a few games a season then yes, I will pick and choose, i'm well within my right to. If I miss out on tickets then so be it, that's life.

It's a childish argument. End of. Real supporters know who they are and people who jump from club to club know who they are. Who cares what others think?
