Liverpool 2-0 Everton
Rooney, Iniesta
Everton tried out a strange formation today with 3 at the back and 4 CM's, and it backfired. A couple of strong full backs and Everton could be much stronger. Liverpool's backline isn't much stronger, but the were lucky to come up against one of the weaker forward lines.
Man City 1-0 Chelsea
Schweinsteiger
Man City still look strong across the board, and were good value for their win today. Chelsea attempted a new formation with wing backs, this may work against other teams, but wasn't enough to stop City.
Man Utd 1-2 Villa
RVP - Pirlo, Di Maria
Man Utd may have one of the strongest front lines around, but their defence is woeful, and that showed today. RVP scored his obligatory goal, but Villa had enough going forward to punish United, and should have had more.
Newcastle 2-0 Arsenal (2 goals for injuries still need adding)
Villa, Kroos
With Arsenal's manager nowhere in sight, they struggled today, and weren't able to create anything. Newcastle still need to improve their backline, but the majority of their attack looks strong, bar Shaqiri.
Stoke 3-0 Sunderland (1 goal for injuries still needs added)
Aguero, Benzema, Bale
Stoke have possibly the strongest first XI going, and it made mincemeat of Sunderland. Pato never really lived up to his potential, and is doing nothing in Brazil, and Sunderlands fullbacks offered nothing.
Fulham 0 - 3 Tottenham
I can see it now...Fellaini headbutting Ibra's nose for not passing to him meanwhile forget's what team he plays for and passes to Neymar who's weak shot goes through Hart because he was trying to fix his hair.
---
Liverpool 2 - 1 Everton
Oscar ------------ Silva
Navas
Everton's brave move for 3 at the back nearly paid off as they controlled the midfield and gave Liverpool no space. Silva's neat chip was deserved but second half Liverpool switched their wingers and Navas gave Puyol problems with his pace. Navas scored one and assisted for Oscar as the home team pushed for the winner.
---
Man City 3 - 1 Chelsea
Ronaldo (2) -- Modric
Falcao
Chelsea took the early lead with Modric's accurate free-kick but then seem to defend their goal which wasnt the best idea. Ronaldo gave Nastastic and Valencia a torrid time with his movement and scored from a 30 yard swerving shot. Ronaldo scored the second minutes later when he cut in and curled a beauty. Chelsea now attacked but City found more space and again Ronaldo was the instigator with a terrific run and cross for Falcao to head home.
---
Man Utd 2 - 3 Aston Villa
Messi (2) ---- Yaya, Tevez, Wellbeck
Wellbeck's last gasp winner gave Villa all 3 points in this great football game. Utd started the brighter and looked to score at every opportunity but their defence caved in to Villa's brilliant attack. Messi with 2 outrageously brilliant goals but was pipped by Di Maria's solo run and goal.
---
Newcastle 2 - 0 Arsenal
Villa (2)
Arsenal's defence were ripped apart with bad decisions and a high line. Villa took advantage with two clinical goals. Arsenal did create some great chances but were thwarted by either last gasp tackles or a great save.
---
Stoke 3 - 1 Sunderland
Bale ------- Hazard
Aguero
Benzema
It was a story of two defences. Stoke's defence never looked like conceding whilst Sunderland was disorganised and pulled apart from clever movement. Bale with a solo run and goal opened the scoring. Hazard equalised with a clever free-kick. However, the home side pushed on Aguero in particular was superb and scored a tap in and fed Benzema for the third.
Fulham 2-1 Tottenham
Ibra ----------- Mata
Ribery
Fulham's front four had too much for Spurs' defence today but take nothing away from Tottenham's performance. Kamran has done extremely well this week. The signature of Mata is particularly surprising. Still need defensive reinforcement and a midfielder but they are on the up. Fulham may have lost Falcao but their front 4 are stronger now with Ribery and Ibra. They also need to shore up the left side of their defence.
===
Liverpool 0-0 Everton
This Merseyside derby was simply too congested to get off the ground. LMA's bizarre decision to ditch all width in favour of clogging the midfield worked as Oscar is more inclined to work centrally, and Liverpool's fullbacks and Navas aren't the most potent going forward. Liverpool are superior in terms of quality but Everton's tactics earned them a point. The visitors need improvements to their fullbacks, whilst Liverpool could do with some genuine width and improvements out wide.
===
Man City 1-0 Chelsea
Falcao
An attacking trio of Robben, Ronaldo and Falcao is highly likely to score every game and it was the latter that eventually earned his new side the points. Robben is a downgrade on Ribery, but City's defence looks more balanced now whilst Falcao has that little bit more than Zlatan. Chelsea's stifling tactics worked for large periods but City's quality eventually shone through. Chelsea lack a match-winner.
===
Man Utd 0-1 Aston Villa
RvP -------------- Welbeck
-------------------- di Maria
Huge win for Villa as Welbeck justified his call-up by scoring against his former club. United going forward are always going to trouble sides and RvP opened the scoring. Defensively though is another matter as they looked frail. di Maria and Yaya tormented them all game and Villa deserved the 3 points.
===
Newcastle 1-0 Arsenal
Kroos
El Dios' hard work has been rewarded as his side won a vital game at the bottom, which may condemn Arsenal to the drop. The Gunners are in freefall and their defence is in drastic need of reinforcement. Newcastle have worked studiously to improve and they looked a more organised side with a bit of a cutting edge, David Villa is a particular improvement. But it was Kroos who benefited most from Villa's arrival, latching onto his lay off to curl the only goal of the game.
