Just like the draw in Poland after taking a 1st half lead, you just know the England camp will be happy with the away draw. "Must not lose"- what a pathetic attitude!
I say "does he get into the team" for the simple reason that 1-0 away in montenegro at half time is looked upon as a great "result so far" by all the "wa-kers" who they use as experts and on the radio they were "creaming" themselves that england were doing fine and playing "within themselves"...
surely this is the single biggest problem we have...massive wages, massive publicity, massive lifestyles yet such a low expectation of these "gods"...
For wages in excess of £1 million pounds a week(just the starting 11-and im probably being conservative in that) we really shouldnt be getting overly excited about being 1-0 up in montenegro, should we???
We praise mediocrity and there will still be those that think 1-1 is a "decent result"...
We aim low and mostly only just make those "targets"...
If we cant beat these teams then surely it follows that the wages of these players should drop to the level that is being paid in most of europe and they should start being paid for their "results" , which would drop dramatically as we havent got a team in the final stages of the european cup and we are struggling to get out of this group...
Just following on from Mirf's stats.
A question to ALL.
Who would you prefer to see as manager of the National side....
if it was YOUR choice.
also,
Should it be an 'Englishman', or are you open to the 'best man for the job'
My take,
I think who ever does the job will struggle, because the players available aren't up to playing against more intelligent, skillful opponents.
Where are the Bob Paisley's of old.
James Milner for one is a waste of space. He should either shoot on target or deliver a cross. Not hit the ball across the penalty area at 100 mph, giving those in the six yard box no chance.
And why do we find it so difficult to defend corners?
we all went back and then didnt pick up half the opposition in and around the box..
too many players going back and not actually doing much other than standing about and ball watching..
bit like watching the under 10s local team..
If you leave 2 players up the pitch then at least 4 of them have to stay back..simple really...
There are academies popping up all over the world, taking young boys and turning them into real footballers. Modern coaching techniques give these boys the right ethos and they become Iniesta, Ozil and Messi.
English lads get told things like "you're tall.....centre half" or "to the first line, touch and back, to the second line, touch..." Then when they can pass the bleep test they get pro contracts, silly tattoos and pop star girlfriends.
The game has evolved but we insist on doing things the English way. After we failed to qualify for Euro 2008 who did the FA turn to to find a solution? Only Trevor f-cking Brooking
Should we really be surprised that we're sh-t??
Would and could Brazil be the first modern world cup in which we have no representatives from the British Isles ?
makes you wonder if the players are just thinking ' the boss told me not too go mad playing for England, conserve a bit of energy for saturday, don't do silly tackles and get injured...'
What's holding them back ?
Something is...over coached or have their heads filled with too much tactical stuff...play in the hole on the right...drop back and cover the full back and don't get caught upfield..
who thinks up all this stuff..
When Monte Negro equalised they had 6 men in our box, we had 10...and the scramble that preceded the goal was our own players getting in each others way...
You couldn't make it up
At least you can see where Town get it from now...
Wonder when the FA coaching school will wake up..
I think that was the worst 45 minutes I've ever seen an England team play....it would be comical if I weren't so angry about it... .

No. USA 94 had no UK teams.....unless we're counting Ireland as a home nation given that their team was pretty much full of Englishmen with Irish grandmas. Who will ever forget Ray Houghton v Italy, Andy Townsend going blonde and John Aldridge introducing the word "tw-t" to a prime time audience
Can't stand the ROI, Like Champers says full of English or Scotsmen who's granny had an irish cat 500 years previously!
I once had a pint of guinness and I enjoy the "craic" as much as the next bloke, I therefore qualify to play for ROI....I also believe that two ticket stubs from any of the "Riverdance" shows also counts as a qualification...
dreaming of being "naked" with all 3 sisters from the "Corrs" will be accepted as a part qualification
as long as you "never ever" say "potato" using a silly irish accent...
The Scottish qualification rules are on similar lines except you then have to promise to "never, ever visit the country(unless for a full international- friendlies can be left to the bit part pros from Hibernian and other no mark-teams) and certainly never, ever play your football for a Scottish Club side"...
I qualify for Ireland as my Nanna is from Athlone. I always keep an eye on them and Celtic because of the family connections. But the qualification criteria is still guff.
My late Gran was a Giblin from Dublin...
