HRH,

Our problems seem to lie with the fact that we have injury-prone CBs then.

Groundhog Day that problem

You have 4 defensive positions, so should have 8 or 9 players for those. If we only have 3 specialist FBs in the squad - ie no Rose back or Fryers and Naughton back up for both - and are reliant on two of the CBs for additional cover then we really need 5 CBs. I think you'll struggle to find a club in European competition that has only four CBs and three FBs

HRH,

I suppose the one good thing is that we do have 2 CBs who can play FB, even though i think Kaboul is by far the more natural FB than Vert.

Vert can cover for a game or 2 but he is not a long term solution, neither really is Naughton IMO.

On that I'd agree. Personally never been a great fan of Benny either - ideally I'd like a new LB and Rose

Why anybody would want to keep gallas a further year after some of his performances this season god only knows.

Yes he was a very good player at one stage but those days are well and truly gone

HRH,

I actually rate Benny. Although i think he is definitely one of those players who split opinions.

Other than Cole, Baines & Evra, i'm not sure there's too many better LB's in the Prem.

What's your view on LLM's opinion that Livermore would make a good CB Grand?

I know it's hard to tell without seeing him there first as to whether he has the discipline and awareness, but sometimes you just get a feeling, and he looks a CB to me the more i think about it.

He definitely has the physical attributes and is comfortable in the ball. I don't see him having a long career at CM for us so it may be the only chance he'd get to stay on.

Centre backs don't always have to be the most tough

I don't mind Benny, and I don't think you'll find many better with the ball at his feet, but I think he is too sloppy and casual without it and isn't young enough that he'll iron it out of his gsme

Just revisiting this one lads. As I seem to recall I wrote it around the time of the embarrassing result in Milan with the lopsided and unbalanced side we had to play because of a couple of injuries to Bale and Lennon.

We pretty much got exactly what we needed this Summer. All weak areas have been addressed, and the squad is now fully balanced.

To recap (with getting rid of Parker, Livermore and Dempsey) the list I thought we needed was:

Rose back

Townsend back

Another CM
PAULINHO

A CM or AM (depending on where Holtby ends up)
ERIKSEN

Another RM option
CHADLI (right-footed that is)

At least one striker. Another to possibly combine the RM role above.
SOLDADO (no need for another to combine RM)

In addition we also signed...
CAPOUE (Hudd)
CHIRICHES (Caulker)
LAMELA (Bale)
...to replace others that left

The only area I think we could have been stronger in is LB, with Rose and Benny being much stronger than Rose and Fryers.

To the squad
