No, Stanley Matthews?
Stanley Matthews ahead of any in MF bar Charlton.
Possibly, England's greatest ever footballer.
Players I saw play -
Oliver Kahn
Cafu Maldini Kohler R Carlos
Xavi Iniesta
Ronaldinho Zidane Rivaldo
Portly Ronaldo
Besides, you need width in that set-up and Sir Stanley Matthews provides you with that.
You could just as easily swtch Kahn with Buffon, really you should find some space somewhere for either Ronaldo slimline or Messi, probably ahead of Rivaldo.
D'J,
What about moving Houghton wide right and bringing John Giles in the centre? Giles was just about the best passer of a ball I've ever seen. Your greatest ever player IMO. Although him and Keane in a midfield together would see a fair few tough tackles thrown in.
Shows the ability of your midfield when you can't find a place for Ronnie Whelan, who was a class act. Pretty strong team there.
Germany
Maier
Vogts
Beckenbauer
Kohler
Schnellinger
Breitner
Mattheus
Overath
Netzer
Muller

Its difficult Jay I chose players who shone at international level.
Ronaldo slim and Messi arent that great internationally for me.

Messi seems to be just about coming in to it recently, but I see your point
Ninja, Buffon 06 world cup was better than anything Khan ever did at international level. Not a slight on Khan, whom was magnificent in 02.

I hope he does would be good to prove his critics wrong that he can do it on the international level too he deserves it.

DTKF Kahn was one of personal fav keepers along with Rustu but Buffon has been consistently one of the best if not the best

I disagree, IMO.
Both were top keepers but Kahn circa 02 was simply sensational: he, along with a burgeoning Ballack were Germany's only shining lights in a very poor German team.
oli kahn may have been brilliant in the 02 world cup, but he still cost germany big time in the final, the first goal was entirely his fault, you cant look past such a big error IMO
Every time I see Kahn's name I just imagine it being yelled like KKKAAAAHHHNNNNN. That probably makes me slightly weird
scotland have had some decent players over the years, the same as wales, so why are they so sheite now??
wales had a team that included southall, hughes and rush.

Fair play. Khan was fantastic. Buffon has surpassed him for club and country, in my opinion.
Buffon has always been a personal favourite of mine, so we probably won't agree. Certainly two of the greatest keepers to play the game.
