His past misdemeanours I'm not so worried about.
It's his inevitable future misdemeanours that concern me more.
a baby platypus is a puggle
i hate the way bartons always off surfing.
whats even the point off surfing??
It would be ok if he wore surfy clothes but he goes around in g star raw tops.
I would sooner re sign Jeffers
"I would sooner re sign Jeffers"
Ok, but that doesn't really answer my question.
I'm no Barton fan but I've heard far worse players linked to us than him and they don't get this sort of reaction. Poor Puggle Barton.
Yes poor Barton. Being labelled a thug for the minor crime of putting a cigar out on some kids eye among other things......

I think he could do well at Arsenal, and he has got the grit that we need. I am a little concerned that he could cause problems in the dressing room or maybe even on the pitch with his teammates. If we could be sure he will not end up having a scrap with RvP or somebody I think he would be a good addition.
Plus, something tells me that Barton and Wilshere would not be a match made in heaven.
RvP, Wilshire and Diaby (although he won't be an issue cause he will be injured anyway no doubt) are the guys who I think would not get on too well with Barton.
I'd rather have Barton that Diaby/Denilson at least he would give 100% unlike these 2 ingrates.
I think people are getting confused between needing a leader and a reckless thug running around the pitch. I don't think he is the sort of player that would lift the team, he would just make others avoid him.
There's a reason why Newcastle let him go. We don't need another Galas. It doesn't do well for a team with a fragile mentality, we just need players that can lead and drive the team especially at the low points.
Boss, I am with you on that!

I'm not denying he has done some pretty vile things but if we did sign him would we get behind him or would we still hate him on a matter of principle?
Strictly speaking he has paid for his crimes, and he'd hardly be the first ex-con to play for Arsenal would he?

I can't say I've watched Barton closely over the years but I think he's got a bit more to his game than just being a mindless thug. And I wouldn't put too much store in the Newcastle board making logical and rational decisions to be honest.
ive changed my mind. lets get him.
lets kind of cage him, poke him etc, wind him up then let him free as a sub see him go crazy !!!!
Yay barton the boy c'mon
get em joey GO
I could never get behind signing Barton.
"I could never get behind signing Barton."
What if he turned out to be really, really good for us?
Sorry but it wouldn't matter to me. He's a vile human being and I wouldn't want him anywhere near our club.
From what I've seen over the last few years it looks like he has turned himself around somewhat. He hasn't had any "confrontations" and only a couple of sendings off (which to be fair most midfielders in his role have over 2 seasons), plus I would wager that he gets judged with a fair bit of bias by the refs purely due to his past history.
I wouldn't mind him but equally I wouldn't be fussed if he we didn't sign him. What gets me is this high hourse that our fans seem to be rinding on with regars to him.
Besides if Arsene would only put his hands in his pockets, we could probably sign someone with equal abilities that aren't being offloaded by their former club for free.

That's fair enough, I admire your principles. And to be honest I'm just playing Devil's advocate because I don't really think we're interested in him at all, I do wonder how many on here who are being so vitriolic against him would change their tune if, as his agent believes, he turned out to be the player that won us the league?
It's a team that wins the league, not a single player.

Exactly! An excellent point. Wenger and the tightass board really do **** me off. I would take Barton only because I just can't see us signing anyone decent, because they cost too much.
Lets sign Sneijder. No well out of our league, we only pay £14m max.
