Welbs was the best player on the pitch in the first half hippo, shouldn't have been shifted to the left.

Hernandez didn't do much but a long range shot and forcing a save from cech.

Carrick, RVP, Clevs, Valencia and Nani were all very disappointing.

Carrick was brilliant in the first half, but tired a lot in the second. Unsurprising.

Serbian, he did give the ball away a lot/ make the wrong passes. Didn't look to be struggling physically to me, he just had a bad game, which I think you can also put down to the lack of movement around him.

RVP has failed to score in any of our important knockout games and in like the last 8league games

I'd say he's bottled it at the tail end of the season when the games matter most. He was annoymous in the 2 Madrid games (possibly our worse?) and misdeed sitters today

Still been a good signing but I would call it a dream debut season

I just think the lack of a proper pre-season and maybe because we overused him somewhat in the early part of the season, it's caught up with him because he hasn't looked as sharp as he did in the first 5-6 months.

I think Sir Alex will look at his form in the latter part of this season and decide to manage him a little bit more carefully next season maybe, especially as he'll look to integrate Kagawa even further into the team.

We just haven't looked the same really since the Madrid game except for 15-20 minutes give or take in the first half against Chelsea at Old Trafford. The Madrid game took a hell of a lot out of the players.

Thats what happens when we buy an Arsenal player i guess

Can't really criticise Hernandez, he had to live off scraps today, and he'd have scored too if it weren't for a quality save

true

The Madrid games was billed as ronaldo vs RVP

Both had average games in both legs but at the end of the day, Ronakdo took his chances and scored the 2 goals that sent Madeis through whereas RVP fluffed his numerous chances

Good job we've managed to scrape many 1-0 wins without RVP coz his goal scoring drought could've cost is many league points too

Regarding RVP I would give him a good rest for the remainder of the season as soon as the title is decided.

Hopefully get him fit and ready for the new season as we'll need a fast start next season I would guess if City and Chelsea get their act together.

I cant remember when I last thought to myself "we played really well"

We seem to grind out results, not enjoyable to watch personally.

But happy that we are on course for title. I just like to enjoy watching as well.

I wouldnt say thats the case all season, but certainly the last few weeks.

As The Red Side said, The Madrid game took a hell of a lot out of our players and i think its showing, weve been poor since. We have to pick up for City though. If we dont lose that, its over. Surely.

VCD - We haven't really played that well as season but we have done well enough.

Like you though I want to be entertained and apart from a few games this season I have not really been entertained.

Next season though with the confidence of (hopefully) winning the league the players, especially the younger ones winning for the first time, will be able to express themselves more.

Or maybe he's just lacking the sharpness that he had in the earlier stages of the season? He's not the only one who's been lacking for long periods this season.

Knockout games obviously matter more at the tail end of the season but not in the league where every game matters and he has played a bigger part than anyone else at propelling us to top spot in the league with a hattrick against Southampton, a late derby winner, 2 goals at Chelsea, goals against Arsenal, Liverpool, Everton, Newcastle and West Brom. Very few of his goals haven't been important.

Maybe not being entertained is a bit harsh but I would like to see some better performances as I believe the team is capable.

People have said this a million times but until we invest in CM we will have games like today.

Come up against a good CM and we struggle, sometimes even against poor CM opposition we get overrun

Carrick is fantastic but for me thats it, the rest are squad players.

Why are people using tiredness as an excuse? It's simply not the case. We have the biggest and best squad in the PL, so why aren't all the other teams flagging? I can tell you that there wasn't an awful lot wrong with Hazard and Mata today.

I think Van Persie is suffering due to a lack of games. He alluded to this in a recent interview. He's been 'rested' far too often the past two months and hasn't really played a lot of football. This isn't fitness, simply poor finishing. In general, his all round play has still been exquisite. Unfortunately, he's not putting the ball in the net as much. Play him every week, get him a goal and watch him fly.

The more players play the fitter they get. Cleverley is a great example. Rafa is an even better one. Rafa had a month off and pulled a groin in the first proper use of his muscles. I am adamant he would not have done that had he played over the international break. There's a reason Carrick and Evra are always fit. Look at Smalling and how much better he's looked after playing 4 successive games. And look, he's right as rain.

Our players weren't tired. More likely they were rusty from lack of games. This often happens to our players due to rotation policy we often quarrel over. I look at Kagawa and wonder how he can succeed here when he plays every other game because we've got 7 others options to accommodate. Yet, all that said, we lie 15 clear in the league, so who am I to argue?

It's hard for a team to gel when there is no consistency in selection. That, coupled with some very poor performances by Nani, Clev and Hernandez, makes for games like today.

We've played well in spells this season but I'm struggling to remember a performance when we've played well throughout.

Normally we've played well in the first half, took the lead and sat back and soaked up pressure in the 2nd or not played well and went a goal down in the first and went up a few gears in the 2nd to comeback and win.

I guess the best way to describe us this season would be efficient. We've been an absolute machine in the league without playing with the flamboyance that you would normally associate with a United team.

RVP has a decent all round game, but is really a striker who needs good service, and right now our midfield isn't given him good service. So he has gone off the boil slightly in recent matches, and whilst he can create the odd chance for himself, that's not really what his game is all about. He's also not got the legs and energy of a Rooney or a Wellbeck, so he's not going to run himself into the ground.

That's still not denying what a great player he is, what a great season he has had, but of course no player is immune to criticism. To compare RVP and Ronaldo is silly, because Ronaldo has much more to his game and can create so much more by himself, but this does not stop TVP being a top-class talent.

Generally our team isn't creating as many chances as I would like, but RVP was in such clinical form that it didn't really matter - it's thanks to our defensive strength in recent games that we haven't always needed to score a hatful of goals.

We need more creativity, which means hopefully an improved Kagawa after a settling in period, but just more quality generally in our midfielders. Our wingers need to get their fingers out also, because no-one has been outstanding in that department this season.

Looking at the season as a whole, our best players have been Rafael, RVP, De Gea and standout Carrick - he looked jaded today, it was a rare off performance, and obviously suffered from playing on Saturday, yet he was still better than a few others. He's my Utd player of the season.

Yeah, and bring back Obertan, he would have solved all our wing problems

Bebe > Valencia.....

Bebe actually played quite well against Benfica at the weekend even though Rio Ave lost 6-1.

Almost scored a wonder goal after running with the ball from deep and nutmegging two players in the process including the much talked about Ezequiel Garay.

He seems to be doing quite well in Portugal from what I've seen.
