Another goodwillie bid

Westend, the reason United are looking for an increased offer from Rangers is because it would then compensate for the interest we will lose from Rangers being unwilling (unable?) to pay upfront. If United were to accept your offer it would be in real terms a worse deal for United.

You might not like it, but as an Arab ST has played a blinder on this. I'm not his biggest fan at all but he's done absolutely the right thing by us on this deal.

Rangers have equalled
Blackburn Rovers’ offer for
striker David Goodwillie, as
they try to convince the striker
to remain in the Scottish
Premier League.
Goodwillie is currently in
Lancashire undergoing a medical
with the English Premier League
side, after Dundee United
accepted a reported £2.8 million
offer for the 22-year-old.
Rangers have so far failed in five
bids to land Goodwillie this
summer and, at the 11th hour,
have made another attempt to
have an offer accepted by the
Tannadice club.
When asked if Rangers’ bid
matched Blackburn’s, McCoist
replied: “As far as I'm aware, yes.
Unfortunately I can't give you a
lot of information, other than we
have put in a new bid to Dundee
United.
"We just have to wait and see in
the next couple of hours what
happens.
“We've all made no secret of the
fact that David is a player we
would love to see at Rangers. We
believe that we have put a bid in
that's more than acceptable.”

If Goodwillie wants to go to Ibrox he could always refuse to Sign for Blackburn which would clear the way for Rangers, or am i missing something?

I think Utd have been very underhand about this with Rangers, changing the deal as we go up and up (over £3 million, FFS we'll just wait to he washes back up here after failing at Blackburn).

dont know if thats true tbh..

the price was set at the start, a numebr of clubs failed to match it, blackburn made an offer over and above it was accepted....that then becomes the new benchmark wrt making an offer..

rangers apparently nearly matched the offer but with incremental payments, have a feeling it still money up front utd want... not after three years!

Dos

why should Dundee Utd wait a couple of years for payment.

If Rangers can't afford the money up front then they should leave alone, Utd have made it clear that they want the money up front,

5 bids I men come on if you want the man pay the money simples.......

i would think it would be cash upfront if its equalled rovers offer.

Ydays bid matched it, but in installments. Dont see why we would go back in today with the exact same offer. Thats what makes me think its cash upfront. Guy fourth official also reckons its cash, which utd rejected saying they want over 3m.

Fleck knows!

What is it with Rangers not willing to pay money they are meant to? First the tax then this!!

Pay what is owed and stop trying to weasel out of everything.

surely questions will be asked about gers forray in to the transfer market at this years agm, especially after all the hot air about how much money ally is given backed with the departing directors comments.

Colin,

Yeah, you could be missing the point that Blackburn will pay a much higher wage

IMO, Rangers are covering their earlier mistakes and pretty much knowvthat Goodwillie will sign for Blackburn

dos i dont think he is worth that... but because of the dilly dallying rangers have done, they no doubt may be forced to pay over the odds, not just for goodwillie.

the longer the window remains open, the less players remain and the more clubs have their hand forced...welcome to the bidding frenzy!

its a steep learning curve whytie!
remember whyte valued him at 1 million, which to be fair, he is worth more...

persoanlly, i'd be concentrating on verhoek if that deal isnt dead too!

Dos - he's worth whatever someone is willing to pay.

Personally I wouldn't be surprised if he goes down there, scores double figures and then moves on for over double what he's going for now ala Fletcher. Again that would be good for United with the sell on clause as it doesn't matter how many he scores for Rangers his value wouldn't increase by that much.

TCD- That's not the case though. The deal within football is that if a club goes bust (and Rangers have not lost the tax case, whoever does will appeal so it'll be at least another 18 months before resolved) football clubs get paid in full first.

Check with Portsmouth fans for proof. Local businesses could go to the wall but players such as David James and clubs like Spurs got paid in full.

Utd want it up front for their own reason, they're skint! That's fair enough but it's not because of concerns about Rangers ability to pay in a few months, that won't be affected even if the club went into administration.

as you well know many a transfer has a structured payment element with add ons, mcgeady's transfer to moscow and fortunes transfer to celtic being two.

I dont disagree I'm not one whose slagging dundee utd, its their right to look out fopr dundee utd not rangers.

all depends on what the player wants, thats the missing variable in all this, mccoists smiles appear to show that he knows something we dont.

dos, what your write is true, but only up to the point whereby a club makes a better offer, you then need to MATCH or BETTER that offer

rangers have yet to realise this it seems..

i bet never in their proud history have they offered less than a rival bid while knowing waht that offer is...it doesnt make sense.. what is it...7 offers? if they wanted him seriously they could have had him for 2 mill a month ago...!

I think Rangers are trying to stall the deal till after Wednesday, in the hope they qualify. After which, they mat offer the money up front but, are DU willing to wait that long

ibrox, i'm a celtic fan, why should i be worried about your innability to sign a player? or is it i am not allowed to comment on a subject that is a pain in your .....?

Next time don't knock Celtics transfer policy

SIX bids for the same player and you still don't get him is an embarassment
