We DON'T need a new CM this summer.

Absolutely disagree with nearly all of that and I'll explain why.

Carrick is 32 in July. He's been great this season but he's not going to play forever. In fact, I think he's played more games this season than perhaps he should have. We simply can't rest him because the other players simply aren't up to it.

Fletcher hasn't played regular week in week out football for almost 2 years. And he wasn't the greatest player anyway. You could never criticise his heart and work rate but he was an average player technically at best. At his age, it's a HUGE way back. I don't see it happening.

Cleverley hasn't been fantastic. He's been decent to good. He doesn't get anywhere near enough goals or assists to be called "fabulous"

Anderson......I'm not even going there. Bored of talking about him and telling people how delusional they are about him.

Jones is decent defensively in CM. He gives us nothing on the ball though.

We're crying out for a world class CM. In fact I think we need two personally.

I couldn't disagree more. We do need a new CM in the summer.

Fletcher is done, he needs to be moved on, keeping him on the books just to be nice isn't good business (which is what football is now).

Nick Powell needs to go out on loan. Playing once a month in a midfield with Giggs isn't helping the lad. He can go to a lower league team and play almost every week.

Carrick is 32, which may be his peak, but if he gets injured, our midfield will be too thin (Anderson aside )

We are short in midfield. I agree with stretford ender 85, in almost evrything he wrote, apart from Anderson. That is a debate for another day though.

Nani will also be coming into the last year of his contract. I don't think we'll get more than £15m for him.

The only thing I agreed with was about the wingers. If we're planning on continuing to play with two wide men next season then we need to invest in at least one quality winger. Preferably a left footed one as we already have 4 right footed ones.

Spot on

He's decent defensively so play him there. He'll never be a top quality midfielder as he doesn't have the abilty to be. Can you imagine him spraying accurate passes ala Scholes or Carrick? Not in a million. He's a defender so play him there.

I'll judge Clevz next season. I always said I would judge him the season after his first season without a big injury

Powell is probably three seasons away

Kagawa is a number 10

Fletch is an unknown and good enough for the squad if he gets back to his best. I have no clue if that's possible though. Don't know what the operation he had in Jan was supposed to do

Anderson - See Clevs.

Giggs - No comment

I said it earlier this season and will be the same next season if we don't strengthen. We will be a Carrick injury away from a major problem

--------------------------------------------------------------------

We'd be lucky to get £15m for him. We always seems to sell our players for less than we should. Berbatov being a prime example.

If ANY club offered us £15m for Nani, the club would snatch their hands off because most weekends he doesn't play like a £15m player.

I think it's always good to freshen the squad too. We are strong in the striker department, and have options at the back. This leaves two areas that we should freshen up, the wings and midfield. Most would prioritise the midfield, with getting a winger as a bonus. This is all providing nobody of note leaves.
Watch Fergie go out and buy a striker and a CB

Can someone tell my why Anderson can't last 90 minutes, he looks so unfit? are we not paying him enough to get into shape?

Berba went for something like 4m, which is a staggering loss, especially for someone of his quality.

Well on another Article I said I'd like to see us sort out our wings and get another CM, but this Article is very convincing

Powell is for me the most exciting prospect at the club, and Jones not far off, both seem like they will be generals in the future.

Hope Cleverley and Ando can keep down the injuries and improve on their fitness though next season

Totally agree about the Carrick thing. Had he suffered a long term injury in November....we'd have finished the season empty handed.

He's by far our most important player. Not neccessarily the best but most important for me. Because his replacements aren't up to it.

Berbatov was 31 and in the last year of his contract. Also I think we were more concerned about getting him off the books to fund RVP's wages.

Even so Scholes, 4m for him was an absolute steal. Yes he wanted to leave, and he was going somewhere that Jol was managing (I believe they have a good working relationship), but even so you'd have thought someone of his quality would have been 10-15m or so all things considered

I don't disagree with a lot of what you said there but as for Powell, he'll be in the first team next season. Not every game but similar to Cleverley last season.

The boss said he won't be going out on loan and has given him tasters this season.

Powell has done his season outside the Prem and has the talent to play a part in our CM next season, if only 10-15 or so games.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Anderson will get to 28 and people will still be saying next season, if he can stay fit, will be his year.

He's been fit this season for the most part and it's not been his year. Not even close to being his year.

This is his 6th season guys.....stop making excuses for him. He's not made the grade. He's no better than a squad player now playing 1 game in 3. That's his level.

He has the fitness levels of an asthmatic pensioner.

I think people grossly over estimate the impact Powell will have.

He played as a number 10 in League two mainly. Now people think he is good enough to play CM in the PL with no experience of playing there whatsoever.

He needs to go out on loan in championship or a lesser PL team and play week in week out in CM first.

I disagree with that, he was playing pre-Christmas and looked fairly good, and then he got injured again. Personally he reminds me a little of Diaby in that way, he plays relatively well but he's never going to be anything like consistent. I think we're mainly hanging on to the vain hope that if he ever did put a season together, he offers something we are badly lacking.

IMO, next season should be his last unless he does something to show otherwise.

I think we realise that berba comes with big wages and if we are going to get rid of him we need to lower our transfer fee so the other club can even afford him. I think he was on 5 million a years wages for us and I imagine he would be not too far off for fulham so for fulham to take him we lower the price.

Also another thing, I think Powell is way off first team football at the moment, to say that he will be first team next year is silly, the lad has just turned 19, I would say at least another 2 years before we seem him featuring regularly, and thats if he develops well.

posted on 4/4/13

See, you say he's not fit, then when you look it up he covers more ground than any other central midfielder for us minute-for-minute. He's taken off because he's being protected. You've clearly never been an athlete of any level if you think it would only take say, 6 months, to get over the knee and hamstring troubles he's had. A season at minimum, and web he's ready, if he doesn't produce, he goes. You complain about people defending him, but attack him religiously and act as though you have a personal vendetta against him. I imagine he'll end up going when we sign Wilshere in a season or two.

Powell started against Galatasaray in a tough game in Turkey and looked good. He looked goof at Chelsea and against Wigan.

He's not the finished article but he's a cut above other players in his age group and has every chance of making it as a sub off the bench and lesser-game player next season.

*good, not goof

Galatasaray was a dead rubber for us.

Chelsea was capital one cup.

And he only came on against Wigan. And he did score a nice goal.

Doesn't make him ready Robb. He needs a full season out on loan in midfield in my opinion.

Stretty you just don't have a clue do you mate.

You talk as if you know exactly what to do to get the best out of him. When was the last time you watched him play for 90 minutes. Or the last time to watched a championship game? He'll be in our match day 18 by the end of next season. And you'll probably say you knew it would happen.

Our of curiosity, how did you feel when we signed Ando? Because I know for a fact you've been bashing on him since at least '09-'10 on old 606.
